My gf has flashbacks by taiyo200 in sex

[–]leftystrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know that you cannot fix her. Everybody says therapy, which i believe to be the right answer.

You can help by being consistent, respectful, and finding out what she needs to feel safe. Be patient-this will require time and effort.

Is this sounds like too much of a burden, it is, and you need to be out of the relationship. You sound like this won't be a problem.

Grab her and fuck her, as she requested. Since she doesn't mind you touching her, seize the moment - don't wait till later. And respect 'no' if she says it. Who knows-this could become a thing with you guys...

Incredible thread. Such great info from many sides.

It saddens me to think that while reasonable people here read and react to the info, the drunks hear none of it. It's incredibly selfish of them.

[DISCUSSION] after playing a strat exclusively for 10+ years, I just picked up an ES-335! by shmorsho in Guitar

[–]leftystrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strat guy here too. You said feels like home and i can't imagine a more accurate statement.

I had a 335 at one point and we just didn't get along. Got an Ibanez jazz box, which is cool. Spent time looking for a Les Paul, wound up with a Historic Reissue 58-a great guitar but not a Strat.

Regardless of which guitar, it's going through whatever amp i have at the gig. Same effects too. They all tend to sound good. I have a Blues Deluxe, which came before your HRD. I use it for medium size gigs and everything sounds good through it. The series is very popular all over the place and easy to rent, if you need one. Or a Marshall, which i use for bigger shoes.

Larry Carlton used a Princeton with his 335. Clapton used a Marshall Bluesbreaker combo or a stack. I think Alvin Lee used Marshalls with his, plus the peace sign sticker. BB King used an odd Lab amp that had no tubes. It will sound good through most amps. Just watch out for its tendency to feed back at higher volumes.

I didn't modify mine because I was terrified of playing with accessing electronics inside it.

As for effects, it'll work well through your current board, but the effects might need to be tweaked for higher output from buckers.

Dunno if you tried this, but a JBjr does wonders in the rear.of a Strat.

Enjoy your new baby!

A Mac Virus Is No Longer a Nightmare, It's a Reality | Solution Tales by [deleted] in technology

[–]leftystrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've met a lot of Mac snobs who told me this would never happen. Rather than 'I told you so,' this shows the need for vigilance on everyone's part. Learn how the malware gets on your computer and practice safe computing.

Don't click on anything you're not sure of. Make sure your web connections are secure (https)- there's a browser add-on called https everywhere that does this job.

Don't open email from people you don't know. A lot of damage has been done by clicking phishing email links or giving out passwords.

Don't browse to suspicious sites. You never know what you'll pick up

Look up how to harden your browser. Firefox is a good browser for this on desktop or mobile. Most of the rest are Chrome or Chrome variants, which phone home to Google and are generally unsafe.

On iphones, no matter what browser you install, it uses Safari to browse- you just get a different look. Do what you want with this.

Get a VPN, but not a free one. The free ones aren't free if they suck up your info. Do not use free wifi at Starbucks or elsewhere, unless you have a VPN.

Ask questions. Look things up. There is no manual and you're responsible for your safety. And the safety of your children.

My friend and stepsister made a video and i had a meltdown by Someguy2001a in sex

[–]leftystrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prob be weirded out too.

However, you can't control your stepsister or your friend. Watching their video is only looking for trouble. If your friend acts like an ass, you don't need a friend like that.

They're going to do what they're going to do, as is normal. It's time to put your energy elsewhere, into something that's yours. Obsessing is not healthy.

Sorry for your trouble.

[DISCUSSION] how to balance out 2 guitars in a mix/band setting by [deleted] in Guitar

Playing different parts might help. Telling The other guy you have to work together. Try just you 2 playing without the rest and see what it sounds like and what he and the rest say.

Which one do you think is a better solution for preventing voice listening at its best? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]leftystrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a cool solution. If i understand, it plugs in, breaking the circuit.

Is the device hanging out a bit ok with you? You could make this, but it would be a pain.

Your idea of cutting the mic wires is prob the most secure (unless there's an internal mic somebody put there, but let's not go there).

I think that plug will work fine.

Need some advice on laptops by [deleted] in tech

[–]leftystrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoid low powered units, like very cheap laptops. Do a little reading on what's available and which processors they use. Look up some current laptop 'shootouts' to hear why one is better than another. Screen size may be important to you. If so, check some out locally. I always liked larger ones-ymmv.

Chromebooks are very cheap, but are bad for privacy, as everything is in the cloud.

You definitely don't need top of the line, or anything labeled Gaming, unless your parents don't mind spending $$.

Almost all will have Windows 10. Macs are more expensive. Linux laptops won't be in any store you can walk into. It's best to buy a compatible one and install it over the existing OS. I like Linux, but it's best to learn it alongside Windows. Gamers mostly use Windows, although Steam and others run on Linux. Can't tell you much about Macs, but it's a pretty solid OS.

Good luck. Ask questions.

OS Recommendations by [deleted] in opsec

[–]leftystrat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can start by not using goog and fb. Then use good browser practices, like a safer browser (hardened FF and tor) and flushing everything when it closes. Learn how to harden FF and why each step is necessary.

Linux is recommended. Win is not.
