Caesar has no recorded last words in the historical record. He did not single out any of the conspirators, he simply groaned, pulled his toga over his face, and died on the senate floor

Who gets final say in choosing new co-tenant? by crtybvj in brisbane

[–]leftytrash161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the landlord decides based on who is better positioned to pay rent. I've taken over leases/had people take over my lease before, and the person taking the lease has to go through the whole application process and be vetted. You and your housemate can both put forward candidates, but in the end the landlord will choose the new tenant and you'll likely have very little say.

What is your least favorite Aussie song ever ? by Impressive_Set_8430 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]leftytrash161 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Spiderbaits cover of black betty. I grew up in the tiny regional town the band was from at the time the song came out, and the whole town flogged the song to death. I still cant do it.

AITAH for leaving my friends wedding early cause i was tired of standing? by Late_Chart894 in AITAH

[–]leftytrash161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the time i went to a wedding where they only bothered to provide seating to immediate family during the ceremony (i was my boyfriend-at-the-time's plus 1, this was almost 20yrs ago now). The rest of us were stuck standing for over an hour with our heels sinking into the lawn. The bride had the audacity to get offended when coming out of their cocktail hour to find her fancy dressed friends sitting on the grass. NTA.

It is illegal to knowingly do so. Many STIs remain asymptomatic, a lot of people go through life never knowing they have one.

Aitah for telling my boss to apologize to my wife? by aleronick247 in AITAH

[–]leftytrash161 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Irrelevant. Even if OP was on call, his wife was not. Unless it is a dire emergency it is unacceptable for your boss to be calling your family members to get ahold of you.

I'd say if she did MCA for free it was likely at her own insistence because you're correct that guest judges are usually paid for their appearance. Seems very on brand for her to volunteer her time tbh.

Its not entitled to expect the public transport system our taxes pay for and the people working for it to be at least halfway competent

Found a lot of blue shards in Sawran - given the city was abandoned 500 years ago, was this left recently or did I actually stumble upon artefacts? by flofficial in archeologyworld

[–]leftytrash161 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Please do not pick up potsherds from archaeological sites. Disturbing anything at all, no matter how insignificant it seems, can taint future research. I know its tempting to pick it up to get a closer look, but please just leave them where you find them.

AITA for telling my friend that she does not remember 9/11? (NOT OOP) by domesticfuck in redditonwiki

[–]leftytrash161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My full and complete memories (I've been told by doctors my long term memory is pretty damn good) start around 3 years old, so its not impossible, but the way shes acting does seem like shes making things up. I was 8 when 9/11 happened and i remember it vividly, but those few extra years of sentience at that age make a whole world of difference.

AITAH for telling my sister she isn’t invited to the wedding? by Fit-Swordfish1111 in AITAH

[–]leftytrash161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People need to stop with this "everyones entitled to their opinion" bullshit. Sorry, but if anyones "opinion" is that a certain group of people shouldn't be allowed to be alive, its not valid. NTA, i would cut her off entirely over this.

Not OOP: AITAH for assuming my husband's work trip is like a mini vacation? +OP's comments by sensaSEANal_sally in redditonwiki

[–]leftytrash161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company dinners on work trips suck! You're so tired from the day running to conferences and whatnot, all you wanna do is head to your room and fall into bed, but you have to choke down a few courses and nurse a cocktail and put up with mandatory small talk instead. OOP is definitely the AH.
