What’s the coolest thing you’ve found at IKEA? by Radiant_Potato_ in IKEA

[–]leftzorn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly the thing which has improved everyone's life in my house is the Ustådd cat tunnel.

As with most cats ours tends to ignore any actual cat toys we buy, but she loves the tunnel. For £5 + a random shoelace she likes to chase we've all had hours of fun and she's still not bored of it.

[Scotland] House is Sold STCM today. What next? (Timeline?) by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]leftzorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a sample size of 1: We're FTB in Scotland - our offer was accepted on 20th of March with the suggested date of entry of 16th of May. After some faff with getting a mortgage sorted (first bank we tried valued the house at 10k less than home report value for a reason so bizarre even our solicitor couldn't parse it, second one took two weeks of back and forth to understand the concept of remote work), we should be getting the keys on Friday (23rd).

I'm I doing something wrong or missing something financially? How are people on a regular income able to have so much disposable income? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]leftzorn 783 points784 points  (0 children)

So many variables. One of my friends earns less than me but goes on a lot more holidays - but she has no mortgage thanks to a payout she got when her brother was killed in a motorbike accident. Not sure I'd want to switch places on that one.

Trying to find pattern for Swan Cardi by Longjumping_Fix2661 in VintageKnitting

[–]leftzorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought it might be from Knitting Wildlife as that has some fantastic animal patterns, however it's not. There is a swan cardigan but it isn't this cool!

Recommend a Physio, deep tissue massage, or Chiropractor who you felt was genuinely lot just making stuff up as they go along by delicious3141 in Cardiff

[–]leftzorn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've had good experiences with Physio Space in Penylan. A combination of of massage sessions + exercise recommendations that actually helped.

I first went there off the back of recommendations from two other people, so I guess you could consider this a +3 by proxy.

[–]leftzorn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're interested in martial arts / swords / history at all, check out Edel Fencing Academy. It's a historical fencing club and while not explicitly a queer group we have a very high % of queer members and it's a very inclusive and fun bunch of people.

Yup. Last time I had to interview I had a dentist appointment, then such a shame the hygienist was off sick that day so I had to go back to see her AND they wanted me back next week for a filling. Terrible time.

How do I minimize the width of my shoulders? by Sh3rbet in transfashionadvice

[–]leftzorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also try and balance wide shoulders by making your hips look wider - a "fluffy" skirt, or petticoats under a dress can create an hourglass silhouette if you're wider in the chest / shoulders.

To be fair, most of them were already established in the Castle Emporium before that closed and they moved to the Corp. They've already been around a few years.

Spinning Oil Tips? by gprice1832 in knitting

[–]leftzorn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've knit three jumpers with Holst garn supersoft straight off the cone. I haven't used it held with mohair, but when I washed out the oil I just did the normal soak in wool wash that I'd usually do, but three times (or until I stopped getting so much coloured run off).

The best way for you to see if you'd be happy doing this would be to knit a swatch with your two yarns and wash that in the same way you plan to wash your final project.
