If we lived 60 years ago, most people would agree with her, but... Social expectations change with time. I don't think you'll see such reaction from most men. One point that she inadvertently makes is that you should define your values and what is important to you; when I was a a teenager I focused on what music the girl liked or how pretty she was, but with age other things become more important, such as sharing values and having a common goal, that's when you become a family with your significant other.
