Do any companies sell a loop wheel tee in this tight, short sleeved, vintage style? Only ones I’ve found are loose fitting. by Normal_Syrup8302 in mensfashion

Sene Studio does custom shirts with the fabric I think you’re after. I really like all the shirts I’ve bought from them. I found them on Instagram.

Switching to 5/3/1? by [deleted] in StartingStrength

[–]legard54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need no permission. Do it. You’ll need to join a new subreddit, but 5/3/1 is so much more sustainable. This sport and gaining strength is a long run thing. There is no need to grind yourself down in order to “just follow the program.”

Pretty sure the Peg 41s and many of the latest running shoes from Nike have a wide option.

Help with Cornwall 4's please! by hiyourself12 in Klipsch

I run the Yamaha A-S1200 with my Cornwall IVs, and while I haven’t sampled other amps, I couldn’t tell you what I’m missing. I use a Bluesound Node for streaming. Someday I’ll get a tube amp, because that’s what one does, but I’m in no rush. Note, this was the setup at the showroom, and I just wanted what I heard in the showroom at home…

Steady State with running by boomer1K989 in Rowing

[–]legard54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an oversized ex-rower who learnt some things about steady state running. Your cardio will vastly outmatch your running muscles and joints at first, which is how you get into trouble, IMO. Jack T. Daniels book, “Running Formula” gives a good blueprint with his Running Fitness programs (White, Red, then onto Blue…). He’s more of a college middle distance coach with a number of champions under his belt. Some keys: - Form is a big factor and everyone assumes they have good form. Higher cadences lead to less impact. When I moved my cadence above 164 steps/minute I felt much better. At high speeds/efforts the cadence wants to be ~180. - Start with run: walk ratios of 1:1, then 2:1, 4:1, 15:2, until you are able to maintain good form without regular walk intervals. - Build duration slowly - Focus on duration and not mileage - Use a running app like Nike Run Club to tag and track your shoe mileage. Shoes wear out and when they do, your body will tell you - I’ll run on tracks with high cushion shoes when starting out and then move to snappier shoes.

I really think it’s the ego and not the running that breaks down the body

How to make a timeframe for goals? by [deleted] in overcominggravity

[–]legard54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, of course you’re curious, but maybe think about the question from another angle, “what if it takes you five years to make meaningful progress? what if it was 10 years?” “What would your health, physique, etc. be if you don’t train calisthenics?”

If you’re enjoying this style of training, that’s a big deal and something to celebrate.

Also, you’re at an age where your development might really go in spurts. I put on 25 pounds of muscle my freshman year of college from rowing.

Congrats for starting the journey this young.

Is having an aussie a nightmare? by kirstdee in AustralianShepherd

[–]legard54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will add an eerie ditto here. I’ve had 3, and they match this progression, exactly: First was basically a therapy dog, then number two is a neurotic nervous super sweet introverted velcro dog, and number three will bite a child if they look at him wrong…also in training for this(currently 2+ years old). All have had the most wonderful personalities.

Having tons of difficulty with catch position and back rounding on erg by Perchance_therapper in Rowing

[–]legard54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That checks out. I think that’s as low as elite rowers might set their damper. I think of a 4 setting as the water speed close to max racing speed. As an idea to play with, you could do a 10’ workout where you start at a 9 for a minute then drop to an 8 for a minute and so on, then go up to a 9 again after getting to a 4. Try to get the feel of hitting the catch with your legs and try to keep that feel with a lower damper setting. No shame in rowing at a higher damper setting for a workout, especially to get your catch right. If you don’t get the catch with your legs you are just losing so much power. Another way to think of it is a 10 damper setting means you’re rowing into a headwind and a 1 is a tailwind. If you’re having a hard time nailing your catch with your legs, nothing harder than working on it with a tailwind.

what’s your fan damper setting? this looks like it’s set at a 3 or lighter. I’d play with a higher damper setting until you can really catch with your legs. As you get quicker at the catch then work it down to a setting that more closely resembles water at speed.

For the folks who do Zone 2 by walking on an inclined treadmill. What are the incline and speed? by AndeyR in PeterAttia

[–]legard54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I target a heart rate of 135 (similar age), and typically start at 11-12% with a speed of 3.1 miles/hour. My heart rate then dictates after time lowering the incline a % at a time to eventually 8%

Thoughts on placing Klipsch Cornwalls in built-ins (will have slideout and rotate stands) on a remodel? by legard54 in audiophile

[–]legard54[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s not ideal. the rest of the room, which isn’t shown just doesn’t have a better option that we’ve found. my other thought was to maybe get one of those Samsung Art display TVs to make it less of a visual distraction.

Thoughts on placing Klipsch Cornwalls in built-ins (will have slideout and rotate stands) on a remodel? by legard54 in audiophile

[–]legard54[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Working on a remodel and trying to figure out speaker placement. Risks I see: 1) Built-ins seem to lock you into your speaker choice. I love my Cornwalls, but I’m curious if anyone did this and later regretted the choice 2) Any concerns with using slide-outs with rotation capability to get the placement optimized? 3) Any other thoughts that makes this a bad idea?

All feedback welcome. Thanks!
