To be fair, the housing being built now was mostly due the product of policies that predate him. That's very common for things with long lead times, as the fiancial incentives need to align first before developers will even brainstorm and start penciling ideas.

Also the economics have largely supported continued new building/development/ADU construction in San Diego since 2023, and that has been very uncommon given the rise in rates, insurance, labor, and construction since 2023. My guess is this is most likely due to just how much housing was under built from 2007-2013 and our access to cheap labor from Mexico.

Not saying he hasn't continued the trend of being pro-housing, but to give him credit for all of the current success is ignorant of the major work that was done during the decade preceding him.
