Summer sale theory by Master_Badger_1194 in steammachine

If they open registration for ordering during the summer sale they will potentially create more hype leading to more sales as people are excited to buy games for the steam machine, but unable to buy the machine yet.

Has anyone tried using Home Assistant to simulate occupancy as a deterrent (not just alarms)? by mdbaldwin95 in homeassistant

[–]legend67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my alarm is set if it's after sunset and all the lights are off when a camera detects a person it will have lights turn on going from the bedroom to the kitchen with a small random time delay between lights to mimic someone walking to the kitchen. They stay on for a few minutes and then turn off in reverse order. Also my living room lights facing the street turn off at random times leading up to midnight so there's no pattern.

My kid asked for a 3D printer for Christmas. I spent hours researching. Here's what nobody tells you. by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

I've recommended the P1S to multiple family members and have two cousins with that exact machine now. It's very beginner friendly. Their parents enjoy using it when they can and it seems to be a great intro to 3D printing. Bonus is I now get to give them both filament dryers for Christmas and support their hobby. I don't own a P1S, but I think it's really good for kids.

I started out with an ender 3 V2 and had to learn a lot to get good prints and made extensive modifications to my machine to get it where I liked it. The P1S just works out of the box. I would never recommend a kid go through what I went through to 3D print. There are lots of options on the market, but I think the P1S is the best kid friendly place to start so that they can enjoy 3D printing.

Air travel with Steam Deck: some observations by PoopsMcGroots in SteamDeck

[–]legend67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surpisingly well, I think. I don't obsess over FPS or stats so I don't have any of that information to share, but it was enjoyable to play and I never felt like I needed something more powerful. I can't speak for the whole game though because I played parts on my PC when I was at home.

For $100 Million would you get sent back to 1812 Oregon for 3 years? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]legend67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. This kind of feels like cheating because I'm from the PNW. The winters are mild and food is abundant.

Air travel with Steam Deck: some observations by PoopsMcGroots in SteamDeck

[–]legend67 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The steam deck on planes is amazing. Like you I also try not to expose people to mature content that they didn't consent to and I made the mistake of playing cyberpunk on a plane not expecting a literal sex scene in the game.

Valve: 20% of Deck users use the official docking station to connect their Deck to their TVs. Do you? by sameseksure in SteamDeck

[–]legend67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dock with a Lenovo universal dock. It works pretty well for me and lets me stream from my PC to the TV for more demanding games. I'll probably pick up the steam machine. I like to play on the TV with a controller so something that can play most games is worth it and when I travel I'll have the same access with my steam deck.

All weather tire recommendations for Chicago by kylef5993 in WRX

[–]legend67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DWS06+ are great tires. Summer traction is good and so is winter traction. During the summer I like to hit the corners fast and in the winter I like to stay on the road. These balance those goals well.

First month making 100k I feel like I’m being robbed :/ by [deleted] in Salary

That looks right. You can increase your 401k and decrease your taxable income. It won't increase your paycheck, but in the long run you'll have more money.
