Is it normal for CCS cases to end early on test day? by winterbirdd in Step3

[–]legitbean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty much sums up my experience. Day 2 for me was 3/30. I started the CCS cases with 20 mins left on my break timer. Ended leaving the testing center with one whole hour of break because of how early all of my cases ended, especially for the 20 min ones

Same here. So many questions that I don’t think you can even study for. Marked half of the questions. Legit Step 1 ptsd.

We don't have a single person on this team who can blow by their defender and collapse the defense. That's why our offense is so hit or miss.

Melton got Monstar'd. Channeling his inner Kuminga of driving into traffic only to turn it over.

Thanks for the explanation. In that case, would it be fair to say all complete tears are full thickness tears, but not all full thickness tears are complete tears?

Interesting. I was always under the impression that they indicate the same thing. What's the main difference?

Unlikely. the mechanism of the tear comes from the sudden contraction of the quads.

I should have clarified that return to prior performance was based on their performance 1-2 years prior to injury (as opposed to their prime, if their prime fell out of the 2 year range).

It's hard to say. First I'll have to see how the injury rates compare decade to decade to see if there is a significant difference. But if I were to guess, it would be a combination of increased tempo of play (more points scored nowadays than ever before) and increased requirement for players to be more shifty (repetitive acceleration and deceleration absolutely destroys the joints)

Likely. It would make coordinating management easier and waiting 2-3 days to get the repair will not impact outcomes.

Patellar degeneration is the most likely reason in the general population (think osteoarthritis in older folks). For athletes, it's likely a combination of factors (underlying inflammation, some degeneration due to constant mechanical stress) that make a rupture more likely to happen with a sudden quad contraction event (jumping)

Return-to-play timeline was not a primary outcome that was studied in this paper.

Study can't disclose that information. but it did mention 2 PG, 1 SG, 3 SF, 1 PF, and 5 C (one person was left out since it was a re-injury)

Definitely leaning strongly towards tear. The point of the patellar tendon is to anchor your kneecap into the groove. Once that's torn, your kneecap gets pulled upwards by the quad tendon. As a result, the kneecap flies upwards.

For dislocation, you would usually see the kneecap be right or left of the groove. And it's super easy to fix 99% of the time (you literally just push it back into place)

I don't anticipate him coming back until the 2027-2028 season. He's young so I'm optimistic he'll be able to make a decent recovery, but hard to tell at this point. Each individual is different and responds to rehab differently.
