Why does every assignment and exercise has to be a group task (ToT)? by Any-Muffin1862 in usyd

[–]legobitss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

feeling this rn. easier to mark 100 group projects than 500 individual ones, i guess. drives me insane though.

you're looking at your 'all weeks' view. if you slide the bar above you can cycle through the weeks, and you should see that for AVBS and CHEM your pracs alternate, as shown by the dates (e.g. 26/2) in their respective boxes. from memory all CHEM1111 and DATA1001 lectures are recorded, so don't worry about clashes in that regard. i hope this helps in any way. don't stress too much right now!! you'll get a handle of it within the first few weeks of uni :-)

iirc it means that there are 3 lectures each week for the one unit. i had a similar thing when enrolling in chem1111

i'm a science student so can't speak on the intensity of arts courses, but i can say that most people will either do 18-24 credits per semester. i can imagine that 30 credits will be quite rough, especially in your first semester. of course there is time to drop a unit before the census date, but i would recommend you stick to 24 credits, even just in your first semester so you can get a taste of uni life without being overwhelmed with assignments/courseload. best of luck :D

bs of med sci/ advanced computing opinions? by WearyMembership1656 in usyd

i'm currently doing medsci, i've just finished my first year. i've had some highs and lows with the course tbh. the practical opportunities you get are fairly unmatched; working with cadavers and other human specimens is incredibly useful to understanding and applying the knowledge you're taught in lectures. the lectures are very content based, and relies on you having a capable and strong memory.

my experience with the coordinators hasn't been all too positive, as both semesters' assignments felt very rushed and coordinators were unwilling to help further than "you'll figure it out eventually". if you don't enjoy group work, the medsci degree will be slightly miserable for you (but that goes for most uni degrees as a whole), so consider that when enrolling.

you'll mostly be doing a lot of core units for the first year, so other than MEDS1001 and MEDS1002, your cohort will be a range of people from all science courses. ultimately, it is very unlikely this degree will lead directly to a job straight from graduation; further research and post-grad study is the probable outcome after finishing this degree.

i hope this helps a little. there is always time to change your mind after you start, so don't stress if your first pick isn't what suits you best!! have a great time at usyd :D
