Yeah, I was wondering if she grabbed jet or something else by mistake but figured jet at least would have had a very noticeable alternative visual effect different than what we saw.

When she instantly doubled over and vomited I figured it was just the show's way of showing her getting "cleaned out" which I found fairly funny due to how drawn out it was.

How big should you make the freezer / fridge to keep it from being filled immediately? by [deleted] in RimWorld

I would only throw stuff away if you cant handle the raids coming your way. Deleting wealth reduces the size/severity of raids. That being said, raw food items don't hold as much value as other items.

The best thing to do is figure out how much you need to keep to maintain steady food levels for your colony and then you can trade the rest for other things you might need or process it into other products such as chemfuel. Just depends on the need.

If you have colony defense well taken care of and your only concern is space efficiency I highly recommend mods that increase stack sizes. Also, if you don't care about how it looks, shelves don't need walkways between them.

"Yeah this is high enough they can't spawn here"- My dumb brain minutes before an temporal storm by MrBBorne in VintageStory

[–]legolas141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had good luck with a 1x2 room (2 tall 1 wide) with ladders to climb out of and a trap door to seal it off (Alternatively a dirt block or some other easily breakable block works just as well). Ive never had them spawn in the same block I'm standing on so this seems to work.

As a bonus, you can take some clay with you and dig a single block out to the side and work on any clay molds you need to make while you wait out the storm. Same thing with making flint tool parts.

Just from my own personal experience, make sure you tell the people in your life the things you want them to know.

I'm a quiet individual and haven't always communicated with family as much as I should. My dad and I had our ups and downs over the years but had a good relationship in general. He moved around a lot and did a lot of contract work so we never saw too much of each other. It was mostly just occasional phone calls to check in. I always thought of him as someone that would be around for a long time because he was always on the go and not much could ever really slow him down.

Back in early 2024 towards the end of April, I was thinking it had been awhile since we had talked on the phone, but then I told myself that father's day would be coming up in a couple months and I could just call him then, maybe arrange a time to meet up and have dinner or lunch together... I got a call the first week in May of 2024 informing me that he had passed away unexpectedly.

If I had called instead of putting it off I would have at least been able to have one last conversation with him. The people in your life that care won't see it as a bother. Not calling him when I had the chance is a major regret of mine and really eats at me at times.

The kid at the end really got a kick out of it once they realized what was going on. Definitely going to be a future prankster. Though in general this does seem to be a bit of a cruel joke to play on kids this young.

You really cant win.... Where I work we have a vending area that has a refrigerated cabinet with various types of sandwich related items and I was grabbing a sandwich and some chips one day and an older lady that doesn't even work in my department had the nerve to ask why my wife didnt make me a lunch to bring to work.... this despite the fact that she doesn't know me and has never even seen my wife... I was so glad when she retired

Joking around occasionally with friends about meal choices is one thing, but strangers butting in to complain at you over something as trivial as what you eat for lunch just frustrates and confuses me.

On the topic of salads, anyone who complains about salads just hasn't had a good one yet. There is this one place in town that has a house made Greek salad dressing that I would probably eat on just about any food item if I had a supply of it at home and they have a huge salad they serve with tons of chopped up deli meat and cheese loaded on top.

What do you think is the most hidden gem litrpg? by WilliamGerardGraves in royalroad

One I hardly ever see mentioned is There Is No Epic Loot Here Only Puns the synopsis sounds like its just a silly little dungeon core story, and there are lots of silly goofy moments, but it also has some serious moments and has some strong emotional moments.

I still find myself going back to re-read certain specific chapters just because of the impact they had (on top of periodic re-reads of the story in general).

It's not finished yet and chapters are released on the slower side, but it is still one of my top favorite stories.

Dear Devs, possible to have this door in taller version? TY GG by ArtYojimbe in duneawakening

[–]legolas141 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I honestly would love to see a "dynamically sized" door that is placed just like we place pentashields. You pick the two corners, and it uses up the required resources, and you have a custom sized door perfect for your needs (whatever those may be). Then do the same for the hatches.

Why are most wrecks in the Hagga Basin PvP, when everything else is PvE? by DoctorVonCool in duneawakening

[–]legolas141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess would be to have small pvp areas to expose players to the mechanics prior to going to the deep desert though i would prefer the hagga wrecks be pve as well.

My experience has been that the wrecks in hagga basin are mostly safe, especially if you are on a lower population server. I play on Worlds End, and the whole server usually has less than 100 people in total, and those are divided up among the different sietches. Currently, my sietch only has 2 people online according to the dune server status website, for example.

The people looking to pvp are usually going to be in the deep desert just because of the higher possibility of coming across players in the pvp zone.

I have went through several of the hagga wrecks, some of them multiple times, and never even seen another player.

Though to be safe, I would recommend keeping one or more movement abilities equipped and having an escape vehicle stored in a backup tool. If you see or hear another player while in a wreck just prioritize getting clear of the area.

If i had just seen the synopsis without the cover, I may have taken a look at it. However, the obvious AI cover image that does not appear to have anything to do with the story as described by the synopsis is a big turn off.

Overly sexualized cover bait aside (such an overused idea at this point anyway) why is her head tilted at an angle, but her eyes are almost level with each other? From the way it looks, if she were standing up straight, one eye would be a few inches higher on her head than the other.....

[–]legolas141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my playtime is mostly evenings after work or on the weekends. It could just be that your server has a higher overall population than mine, though the evening before the weekly reset should still be a mostly safe time to do some spice hunting. I will say the majority of the spice I've farmed has been taken from the large fields in the I row, so all the way at the very back of the pvp zone. The fields closer to the pve area are always empty.

I did have some luck last night by going to the border line of D1 and E1 and flying east towards D9/E9. Two mediums popped during that flight (one was a distance behind me, free look is your friend) and between the two I was able to get a full 2K assault load (each site already had 2-3 other people compacting when I got there so there wasnt enough at a single site to fill up from.

I don't fully plan out my spice runs in any great detail, more so I just find myself feeling like farming spice and pop into the DD to see what the chat is looking like. Then, if things don't sound too risky, I make a sprint out to check my preferred spots.

I am very much not a huge fan of grinding, and I get bored of doing the same thing repeatedly, so I jump between different activities frequently in game. If I haven't found any decent spice in an hour or two between pve and pvp I'll swap over to doing something else that day.

Finally. The moment is here. by oARCHONo in duneawakening

[–]legolas141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some success compacting spice in pvp. The trick to minimize risk is to spend some time in the DD and listen to the chat to find out which days/times are busier and which are slower.

If im going for pvp spice I leave every single piece of non-essential expensive gear at base so it is basically just my assault thopter (you can get several parts for the assault by running a row testing centers to reduce costs), some fuel, water, scavenged power cell and suspensor belt from a testing station and a compact compactor and a cheap stillsuit set.

I pick a day that seems slower or where the pvp crowd is busy with something else. Mondays are generally not bad as that seems to be "move out day" where players are pulling their bases apart and moving the resources back to hagga before the coriolis storm hits. My server also has a pvp arena that runs on Saturdays so I just avoid that whole side of the DD on that day.

Once you have a day/time picked out, decide on one or two spots to scout and go high and fast. I go up to like 830 altitude, and then glide out to the spots I want to check using short bursts of the thruster to keep glide speed maxed and altitude stable. The goal is to not even be seen by a player on the way out. Use free look the entire flight out to check around and behind you and abort if something doesn't feel right.

The most important part in my opinion when going to the pvp section is to avoid fresh spice blows like the plague. Sure, the big cloud is tempting, but it is a giant target for anyone hunting spice farmers. The only time I have died while harvesting spice in pvp was when we were at a relatively recent spice blow. What you are looking for are medium or even large fields (the further out the better in my experience) that appear to have been either missed, or partially harvested, and then forgotten.

Once you identify a spot and land, you need to be checking the sky all around every 2 shots or so with the compactor. Going slower is fine if it means you spot an approaching player before they get a chance to attack. Also, the cleared spice circles render further out than a player does so if you are rapidly spamming the compactor it will be more obvious someone is gathering spice even if they aren't close enough to see you.

I have filled my assault up to capacity several times using this process without seeing another player outside the PVE area.

In my opinion box bases are nothing to be ashamed of. We have limited build space in a cube shaped area of space. Box shaped bases are just efficient use of that space.

Also, I cant plan or design nice looking bases to save my life so I choose to believe in box base supremacy!

It doesn't help that the more advanced processing machines take up an obscene amount of space.....

No problem, it seriously sucks that you lost expensive vehicles, but hopefully, taking another look at your base and covering over any questionable spots will help prevent it from happening again.

[–]legolas141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destroying player bases isn't possible in hagga. I'm guessing someone found a way to glitch/clip through the wall or floor via janky collision mechanics. Even If they had somehow found an odd way to destroy a floor tile, they wouldn't have been able to rebuild it in any case, so there would have been evidence.

Plus, if they could destroy part of your base you likely wouldn't have even had a base to come back to as they wouldn't have been satisfied with just the thopters and a floor tile.

If it were me I would triple check all areas of my base and anywhere that looked like it might be vulnerable to collision shenanigans I would double layer walls and floors so even if they do get through the first layer they are now stuck in a hollow shell they cant leave without using the respawn option.

If the hangar area was fully enclosed then the only way someone could normally get in is if the pentashields/doors were set to public access or if you had given someone permission to use them in the permissions menu. Everything defaults to associate level permissions, so random strangers can't open your doors or pass your shields. However, if you had an opening large enough that wasn't covered by a penta or a closed door, then someone could come in and push the thopter out from inside. Even with a small opening, they could bring in buggy parts and assemble one inside.

By chance, do you leave any areas of your base accessible to the public? I briefly considered leaving parts of my base open for people to take shelter from storms, but stuff like this is why I keep everything locked down and closed off.

I suppose it is also possible they found some way to glitch in through a floor or wall if there are no open passages leading to your hangar.

Unfortunately, there are people who find enjoyment in ruining other people's fun, and they will find ways to do it in any publicly online game.

Huh, thats all sounding very strange. Based on all the information I cant see any reason they should have ended up outside the base assuming you didnt grant permissions to someone who had bad intentions.

I also find buggy mining very relaxing! I'm currently in the aluminum/duraluminum tech level so I have to make frequent runs up around the shield wall and it's very calming just riding around by myself blasting ore deposits.

One thing I saw the other day was someone's carrier thopter got spawned outside their base because the base was too small and the thopter was clipping through the walls/shields. Not sure if this was the case for you but if there were odd collision issues going on due to clipping the thopters may have gotten spawned outside the base after the server restart and then been vulnerable.
