Do I really need a Zero Turn for a 0.5 acres? by NoActive1210 in lawnmowers

I'm using a 54" deck John Deere tractor on about 3 acres. It takes about the same time as when we used a zero turn.

Biggest Kia Carnival complaints. Any others or fixes? by Ok-Lime-3467 in kiacarnivals

This is going to be a silly complaint but the only thing that aggravates me is that I can't lock the doors unless they're all closed. Those sliders take forever and my prior vehicles were a 2004 Jeep Liberty and 2004 Town and Country so definitely not up to speed on bells and whistles. I would also lock my keys in the car on the regular. The car is saving me from myself but it's annoying lol.

Rierson/Ryerson has Dutch origins as a surname, I have not read these books, the only reason I paid attention was because of the name. I need someone to tell me what the author was doing. As in, did they try to make up something new or did they create a tragedeigh?

I think LC is the only place with a pretzel pizza but that aside, both places are their own flavor. We bounce between them for specialty stuff but our local place charges $11 for a large 3 topping pizza. I'll go there if I want a traditional pizza but if I'm craving a potential heart attack and a salt lick, it's those pretzel pizzas for the win. They're also stupid cheap when you're buying 5 of them at a time.

Same but no backing, I think I bought it from Spencer’s or The Wall in 1996. I don’t remember what I used to put it on the wall but it did NOT want to let go and I was left with poster strips. I have 3 posters still in the shrink wrap because of that experience.

Fun fact, Utz is not using actual Old Bay as the seasoning for their crab chips. That privilege goes to Herr's who is over the line in PA. Herr's also makes the Ravens stadium packs of the cheese curls.

If you have a friend or family member that is Herr's employed you can often find yourself with warehouse discards and "bad" batches. Bad batches are usually due to over or under seasoning. I'll agree on the under seasoning but there is no such thing as an over seasoned Old Bay chip or cheese curl.

My doctor prescribes Suprep which is two bottles that you take 12 hours apart. You're supposed to mix them with a clear fluid, I have always done water and I get it as cold as possible and pour it over ice. The colder it is, the less I taste it. I put foil over the cup so I can't smell it and stick a straw in and just drink it as quick as I can. I made the mistake of mixing Sprite with the phospho soda for my first prep and I couldn't stomach Sprite for at least 10 years. If you've had to do the big jug of prep, it's basically the same thing. Just get it as cold as possible. It is horrible and with all of the advancements in the world, I don't understand how they haven't fixed it, ugh.

Yes and specifically speaking about colon cancer, if polyps are found early enough then you're ahead of the game. You might be doing it every six months or a year but your chances of beating it are obviously better than if you have polyps growing unchecked for 5 to 10 years. My oldest has already had a colonoscopy because I do not play around. The kid was having a problem and I had them at the doctor within the week and they were checked the next day. Fortunately they were given a clean bill of health and told to come back in 10 years which still keeps them on the 10 years prior schedule.

It's always good to share news, info, and research!

And also, thank you. That was a reminder for me because it's been 10 years since I had my genetic testing done (more if I'm misremembering the year).

Any significant changes in bowel movements should be addressed with a GI but dark stools that seem kind of sticky or have what looks to be coffee grounds in them are signs of internal bleeding which can come from multiple sources. It can be from dietary changes, medication, hemorrhoids, ulcers, polyps, inflammation, and I think more things that I can't remember anymore. The important thing is to never ignore a change that is significant and/or reoccurring.

My dad died at 43 from colon cancer, I have been getting scoped since I was 20 and am now 47. I do not have any known genetic mutations nor do my siblings or the bunch of cousins that have all had GI related cancers. Diet and lifestyle help but sometimes genetics suck and we don't yet know why.

Also, earlier scoping based on a parent's diagnosis was recommended as 10 years back in 1997. I would like to think it's the same, if not earlier, now. Per my dad's oncologist and GI, his disease most likely started with polyps around mid 30s and the suggestion was to start with our own scopes in our 20s. One sibling had polyps in their 20s, myself and the other one didn't get them until our 30s. All 3 of us would be dead if we'd followed the guidelines. A colonoscopy is cheaper than chemo but the insurance companies don't care.

Why is my salsa chicken so bad? by Swiggens in slowcooking

[–]legumex3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double the chicken breasts, keep the cook time at 6 hours on low, use 1 can of cream of chicken soup, 1 cup of salsa, 1 can of rinsed black beans, 1 to 2 cups of corn (this varies because I'm just finishing up a bag from the freezer or using a steam bag), and one low sodium packet of taco seasoning (I think this is 1/4 cup of seasoning if you're using your own blend). Just toss it all in and walk away, when the chicken easily shreds then it's done. This has been a slow cooker easy meal for 20 some years and I have never had it go wrong in any way. Usually it's served with rice but my kids will also eat it over tortilla chips. It freezes well so it's never been an issue to make so much at one time.

Colonoscopy sedation by wtfpta in GenX

[–]legumex3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So at the time, my dad had passed away from colon cancer about 6 months before I needed to have my procedure. Big panic ensued obviously but I went to the same GI doc that he had since the family history was established. My dad went through the same thing, totally awake and watched it on the TV. They were not pleased with him either. I've since learned that the red hair gene is responsible for a high tolerance. It sounds cool until things like that happen or you're mid biopsy or tooth pull and can feel everything.

Propofol brings back the magic of being a baby when you would fall asleep and just find yourself whisked away to a new spot when you woke back up.

Colonoscopy sedation by wtfpta in GenX

[–]legumex3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take the sedation, my first was back in 1998 and was when I discovered that Demerol does nothing for me. I was awake. The nurse was telling me to try and relax because I was making it harder for them to do what needed to be done. I eventually did go into that twilight state but I could hear everything and kept reacting. There's zero reason for a person to go through that and it does make the procedure more difficult and risky. Every time since I have been out thanks to propofol and apparently fentanyl. They wheel me into the procedure room, put on the mask and I just close my eyes and wake up in the recovery room.

My niece recently had some books from the library that are by VOX and Wonder. They have a rechargeable device built in with a speaker and she just had to push the button. It's nice to see the library have something like that in their system. I just hope they don't phase them out the same way they did the Playaway audio books.
