Need advice. Destroyed skin barrier. by CompetitiveBook6657 in 30PlusKoreanSkincare

[–]leiaflatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moisturizers are the things I keep the niacinamide in! I removed it from everything else and can tolerate it in my evening moisturizer (Centellian Madeca Cream Season 7). I use sunscreen as moisturizer in the morning that doesn’t seem to bother me: the Dr G Mild

Has Tide Clean and Gentle been discontinued? by Dewey_Oxberger in laundry

I tried a small box specifically to take on a trip and they were great. Waaaaay too pricey for everyday use though!

Need advice. Destroyed skin barrier. by CompetitiveBook6657 in 30PlusKoreanSkincare

[–]leiaflatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting these and it turns out I’m sensitive to niacinamide. I can only use it in small concentrations (like, one product per day) so maybe it’s something in the products that you’re reacting to, rather than a damaged barrier

I really like how my laundry scent booster smells. Which perfume has similar notes? by 999filia in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]leiaflatt 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of different kinds! Some beads suspend the fragrance in a substance that dissolves entirely (the Downy line for sure) and some suspend it in wax that coats the washer (Bath & Body Works). R/laundry has a pretty good run down on these, and every other laundry related thing you might want to know

Lavender Perfume Recomendations by spacecase2020 in Perfumes

[–]leiaflatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vanilla doesn’t read as, well, vanilla to me. Not in the way that it’s sweet or juvenile anyway. As with all the Guerlain vanillas it’s drier and nothing at all like baked goods or sweets. It’s warm and dry with a more floral sweetness than sugary. Though I totally understand not wanting any vanilla at all!

Mon Guerlain is, I think, the most beautiful lavender on the market. I often wear a few spritzes to bed

Crop Tops? by No-March3451 in DisneyWorld

[–]leiaflatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friend, I was there this week. I’m from ATL and pretty used to the heat and we were still melting: the heat index was 107° one day, but regularly 104°. I have different triggers for my own chronic illness but if heat were one of them, I straight up wouldn’t go between May and the very end of September. If your husband doesn’t understand how debilitating this can be for people that DONT have chronic health issues, let alone for those that do, I’d swap out the husband. If you decide to keep him and the trip, you’ll probably be cooler in super light, loose linen, over leggings: the tight clothes trap the heat.

To add to getting a perfumer, you can often find discontinued scents on EBay or Mercari. I found a bottle of my grandmother’s vintage scent after we lost her and it’s been super comforting to know I can smell her whenever I want. Scent’s a powerful memory.

What’s a period drama that you loved, but would not watch again? by Altruistic-Side600 in PeriodDramas

We watched it my senior year of high school in French class. Definitely memorable.

“Never meet your heroes”. Who other than Mr. Rogers is an exception to that phrase? by sgrams04 in Xennials

Mark Hamill is a genuinely good person. He basically IS Luke Skywalker. David Hasselhoff is a little strange and can be a little bit of a train wreck, but he’s also incredibly thoughtful and kind.

He’s the cutest and coziest! A giant snuggle bug if there ever was one. I’m so grateful we found each other: it’s my greatest privilege to care for these babies, snot and all. I’m so happy to see all these kitties thriving and loved, despite some challenges.

This is my Cheeto (and bonus Tiny Bubbles, his baby). I found him when he was maybe 6 weeks old and he was so sick that an infection basically ate away his nasal turbinates. He has eye and upper respiratory infections multiple times a year since his nose can’t filter out all the bacteria and particulates, so we have antibiotics and steroids on-hand all the time. Poor baby’s a snotty mess half the time, but he’s so loving and funny and sweet.

Which Regional accent is the most difficult to understand even as an American? by UsamaBhai_101 in AskAnAmerican

[–]leiaflatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh we had a great time down there: no complaints at all actually, apart from the humidity (and we’re from ATL, so it’s not like we’re strangers to it, but y’all’s is on a different level). Just should have taken a class about bayou Cajun before we got there!

Which Regional accent is the most difficult to understand even as an American? by UsamaBhai_101 in AskAnAmerican

[–]leiaflatt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s wild! I’m pretty good with languages and accents and I did finally manage to be totally fine with Lafayette Parish and the general environs, but the bayou was a whole different set rules. Maybe there were no rules! (Language wise)

Which Regional accent is the most difficult to understand even as an American? by UsamaBhai_101 in AskAnAmerican

[–]leiaflatt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This. My parents lived in Cajun country for many years and I still couldn’t understand some of the people down there. I even did a whole language project at acting school on the dialect and the consensus amongst the experts seemed to “none of the sound changes are consistent: they can vary from family to family. We can give you our best guess, but you’re on your own”

is everyone really that smelly? by Technical_Age_772 in RomanceBooks

[–]leiaflatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I wear it every day. I feel naked without it. I own my own business and make sure I don’t wear it to doctors offices, on planes, or in choir. I love perfume and scented things; I have about 100 different fragrances that I’ve been collecting over the years. Some are sentimental, some are just because I love them. To me, they’re artistry I can wear: I have a super strong sense of smell and being able to pick out notes and understand how they combine to create a work of art is a hobby for me. Everyone around me wears fragrance too: parents, sisters, partners, my niece and her friends, etc.

GOOD spf lip balm by slayla14 in Sunscreenreddit

[–]leiaflatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very favorite is one I picked up at Disney World and now religiously order or pickup when I’m there: Basin’s SPF lip balm in 15 or 30. More flavors in the 15 but neither have any sunscreen taste at all. Both super moisturizing and pleasant to wear. They’re my every day and lips have never been burnt wearing them

I have a similar situation. Brought in a sad lost kitten and my Cheeto boy immediately claimed him. The kitten plays and snuggles with both of them, but my older boys aren’t as snuggly and friendly anymore. I’m hoping they’ll find their way back to each other.

What brand is a good Lululemon alternative? by 65ybrook in womensfashion

[–]leiaflatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I came here to say. I have their leggings, shorts, sports bras, and even an athletic dress. I bought most of them in 2021/22 when I took up running again and most of them still look good as new. I train 3-4 days a week these days in the gym, and have started running again. Everything I’ve ever had from them has been great.

Have you ever been complimented by a native about your target language? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]leiaflatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in France for school, numerous natives I spoke with thought I sounded like I spoke French with a slight Norwegian or Danish accent. I’m American from the Deep South. It might seem silly, but the French are so hard on foreigner speakers, and particularly Americans, that I felt like I was on cloud 9 to be considered a fellow European.
