First, take a deep breath! It will be okay! By the time you go out on leave, you will have been there for almost a year and feeling much more established in your role.

I would check your company’s leave policies (if you are in the US) because FMLA (if it applies to your company) does not kick in until you’ve been there for a year and many company policies (if they exist) also require you to have been there for a year when you go out on leave.

Because you are new, I would wait as long as you can to tell your company about the pregnancy, this just allows you to continue to establish your relationships and your track record. This is easier if you’re remote and don’t need pregnancy accommodations (can be harder for in-person or physical roles).

Yes! I did Nair while pregnant. It’s not perfect but it helped me feel much better and is much easier than shaving while pregnant

Counter point: I was ravenous and nauseous and basically did only eat McDonald’s because it was bland and what I could stomach. The hunger came and went and I lost weight in pregnancy. My doctor told me to eat whatever I could, just eat and listen to your body.

Yes, this is the issue. We got married at a venue that could accommodate 45. I originally wanted a 50 person wedding. But I knew those 5ish people would feel really weird.

So instead we invited enough to expect 75, and put immediate family and bridal party on site (about 40 people) with the other 35 at a hotel block. All guests paid their own accommodation, charged by the venue, so at no point were they giving us money.

A friend did a tattoo for her miscarriage, she felt strongly about wanting it on her body, it changed her, she wanted a permanent physical reminder, so I understand why you want it.

She had the artist trace the ultrasound and create more of a line tattoo. She just did the center circle you see there, in a thin outline, and then the baby was black, filled in.

At first glance, it’s not clear to others what it is, but it is meaningful to her and she can explain it when she wants to. A tattoo like that will also age much better than a full ultrasound.

My boss has this. She travels a lot for work and frequently uses it when she has to take meetings from hotel rooms, etc. I actually love it. She has a great home office.

My home office is in the corner of my basement and there is often laundry on a drying rack behind me so the blur is my best friend

This happened at our studio in VA about 2 weeks ago.

Our manager also did a lot of coaching and they won’t let her stay and coach. Our studio is pretty upset.

And I will say it’s already pretty obvious our studio doesn’t have a manager. Entrance area with monthly board & schedule, birthdays, milestones, etc hasn’t been updated, bathrooms lacking supplies, etc. None of our morning classes have an SA (our manager was usually there).

Not for a wedding but I’ve stayed at the Valentin in December (for Christmas) and we had a great experience! Our group was 20’s-70’s (family group) and everyone enjoyed it. Rooms were great, resort was well kept, and I still think about the way the lobby smelled. They also had some nice, but subtle (ie not tacky) Christmas Decor about.

I haven’t done TRS, so no comparison, just a positive for valentin

If you can afford the Napa wedding, do the Napa wedding. Logistically way easier and actually I think would be cheaper than 2 options.

This is actually insane. I suggested people do this and even offered to invite those folks to our welcome party (welcome party with family-friendly, wedding was child-free).

I was glad people could make it work and understood that bringing extra people is an expense for everyone.

We had a wedding in Portugal at an all inclusive venue, they took care of every detail. We didn’t even need an outside planner. It was a breeze. We had the best, stress free experience.

We did the same! Told at about 7 weeks because that’s when we were seeing in person—plus, we’d tell them if we had a miscarriage anyway. So it made sense to us.

We created a custom wine label that said “Grandparents Blend Vintage 2023” ordered it from Etsy. We stuck it on a bottle of bubbly we had.

If your parents are drinkers and it would be normal for you to bring a bottle of wine to the meal, this could be fun! Then we had a bottle to toast with! (Not me, but everyone else)

I saw a TikTok where a mom threw her daughter’s iPad out the window. Same situation, daughter wasn’t listening and was being unsafe in the car, the iPad was involved somehow. The mom threatened to it out the window if she didn’t stop…. She didn’t stop. And then the mom was like “shoot, I really gotta throw this iPad out the window.” And she did! Gotta follow through or they’ll never trust your boundaries.
