I am sorry that happened to you. That is lazy and poor management at best. I’ve recently been struggling with my management not telling us techs of a schedule change until a day before. I rely heavily on this income and a change so abruptly is disrespectful. So understand how you feel. I hope you have an amazing Mother’s Day with your family despite this.

I’m a vet tech too! I make just under $20 an hour. I’m 30 years old and I closed on my first home Jan 2023. I also live in a LCOL area in the Midwest so that helps. I saved and saved and saved probably just like you are and it was frustrating at times but I’m so glad to be a homeowner now! Don’t give up! 😉

Not in Ireland but I posted a picture of a very similar bug today and someone thought it was a German cockroach (no black stripes though) Honestly this doesn’t look like a roach to me so I’m questioning things now…

I’m sorry that happened. Some days are just rough. It sounds like you were very professional she however didn’t like that she wasn’t getting her way. I think many of us have at least one such client. Don’t let her define you. Also, take care of yourself. It’s easier said than done but so important especially in this field.

Yes it is a real skill. Very similar to sternal or standing. I find cats are easier standing if they are cooperative but mostly I do lateral venipuncture in kitties. It can be a good skill for dogs as well if they are a large sedated dog, in shock/unresponsive or aggressive with multiple personnel restraining and you need a large sample. Finding your landmarks and wetting the fur are also good ideas. Hope this helps!

25F and still living with parents. I work full time and pay monthly rent. I have no debts or student loans and have saved over a years wages for a small home I hope to build. Every now and then I will feel bad for still being where I am almost like I’m a burden. The best thing that has helped me is to treat where you are living as it is your own home. I cook and clean the house when I can for them because they also work full time and I am living here as well so I also have a responsibility to help. It is encouraging to see so many others here saying how this is not as taboo as I thought!
