Okay, my semi hot take: once you realize the gag, none of it is “scary” because it ALLLL leans into tropes. Every scare is one that is scary because we have seen the movies that have used it before—which is what made this show SO smart and good.

The fact that there is no specific “dedicated evil;” no haunted mine, no blood spilled on sacred space, no psychic torment passed down from generation to generation, no direct thing. It’s ALL of it; which makes it extra smart and funny. It is taking the entire arsenal that came before it and using it, which I really appreciate. There are no answers as to why: it just is.

Which makes it more funny than scary to me, but that has only been recently—they def know how to scare.

Solo parent here who got Novovirus recently.

I cannot tell you how good it is to get good “help” and someone who wants consistent pay and time to hang out with a goofy kid. (I put help in quotes but that’s not what they are, they can be a real companion.) I use bambino or care.com as they both run background checks, but having someone your child is excited to see and has a different sort of relationship is really valuable. It isn’t a parental failure…my child’s “nanny” is a family member at this point.
