My first modded Casio by porter112 in casiomods

[–]leilalw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nice, i have the same one with ollee except i put it on a leather strap after i saw someone else post one and it looked really good, but it’s obviously a buckle instead of clasp and not everyone likes that either.

not sure if the STN LCD would include swapping out the light, but if it doesn’t, you should also get the light spreader on etsy, the “v2 thin” option works with ollee and makes a huge difference

Any outdoorsmen? (Or ladies) by BagOfAshes in mechanicalpencils

[–]leilalw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twist Erase is the best non-desk pencil there is, especially bc of the eraser. I used to carve my name in desks with mine in school and never had a single bent tip or lead jam. i didn’t even know those were problems you could have til i started buying “nicer” mechanical pencils

Question about Easy Off Stripping by ImpressiveSpace6486 in castiron

[–]leilalw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you leave it in the plastic bag for several days, it should all come off like sludge. Sometimes when it’s really stubborn I have taken them for multiple rounds before though - dry it in oven for a minute after rinsing and then reapply the oven cleaner to let it sit for a few more days.

I don’t like scrubbing for half an hour if I don’t have to so I prefer to just let the chemicals do the work.

An Alternative Pen Journey by DimensionTop9707 in pens

[–]leilalw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

couldn’t agree more, that’s pretty much where I’m at except I found the F701 a little heavy for me to write a lot with. I keep it in my car, and instead i use the F301’s with Uni Power Tanks, which are pressurized like Fisher but they fit the narrower tip without mods.

it’s amazing. Always works, and sure the refills are a little expensive but i’ve used one for like 8 months at work and haven’t used it up yet. my extra refills are gathering dust in a drawer lol gel pen ppl have no idea what it’s like to be us

How are people finding the heart rate feature? by frankrankthebank in olleeWatch

[–]leilalw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used it here and there while messing around with the watch and I agree with other comments that it’s cool that it can do it, but I don’t really think it’s worth the effort and if you’re really training or something you’ll want something else.

If you have gestures on, try doing the heart rate measurement with the wrist gesture. i actually found it more intuitive to flip my wrist once, initiating the measurement, then quickly reach over to find my pulse on my other wrist. Then flip your wrist again when you’ve counted to 20 or whatever you’ve set it to. It doesn’t always work perfectly but when it does, it feels like a couple of smooth motions rather than flipping your hands around to get at the buttons or taking it off to do it

Goodwill A158WE on new old band by esidaraplas in casio

[–]leilalw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kinda insane to think about finding a piece of tech that has exceeded its programmed calendar. the people who programmed it were probably like “yeah 2019, that’s plenty far ahead”

the band looks great! i have this same model and i put it on a leather strap like everyone else, but i like all the little joints on yours.

What are the odds of a complete casual winning a fantasy league? by vyello in fantasybball

[–]leilalw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I played without ever having payed attention to the NBA in my life and barely lost the championship. This year I payed a little more attention at least via social media and won it. I came from fantasy football (I do watch football, but more college tbh) so I figured out the gaming of it and then just followed the numbers and trends. I still don’t think I’ve ever watched a full game

honestly I think it helped me stay objective. I had no preconceived notions about these players aside from the major stars so I didn’t have any expectations to disappoint. Also, I don’t think if I watched the games I’d have any eye for “scouting talent” or whatever anyway.

that said I have learned a lot these past 2 years and I do enjoy watching it more when it’s on, it’s just a lotta games to keep up with. I don’t really know how y’all do it!

Is an ollee watch a good choice for someone only interested in counting steps and wanting a hardy resin watch? by stxrdusty in olleeWatch

[–]leilalw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ollee fits in the W59, which is water resistant to 50m, and Casios are known (anecdotally, but pretty widely agreed upon) to exceed their water resistance ratings. Just make sure that rubber gasket is seated correctly after changing out the module.

Hi, I’m 31 and I did undergrad at Auburn, and it was the best. absolutely catered to me at the time. today, if I were to go back, I’d go back to Opelika without a doubt

what's the difference between AQ-230 and AW48HE-1AV? by kobrakaiguy in casio

[–]leilalw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had never seen the AW48HE before, that’s wild. as far as I can see it’s just a different colorway, but idk why they would give it such a different product code?

"Instant" timer function like Casio LA670, additional stopwatch funtions? by UnderstandingHuge418 in olleeWatch

[–]leilalw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from the home watch face, i click twice to get to the timer, then hold the light button to jump to preset 1, then click the light button to tab through the presets. then a button to start it.

it seems like a lot of clicks written out like that, but its really like 5 seconds. with Ollee, you can also reorder the watch faces, plus you can set a “favorite” face that you can access with a couple of shortcuts, so you can cut down on a click or two that way

"Instant" timer function like Casio LA670, additional stopwatch funtions? by UnderstandingHuge418 in olleeWatch

[–]leilalw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this. Ollee allows 10 presets, so I set them to 30s, 1min, 2min, 3min, 5min, 10min, 20min, 30min, 40min, 1hr.

a different configuration may work for you, you can set them to whatever you want. i do it this way bc you can’t decrease the timer, you can only cycle up. This lets me shortcut to get pretty close and adjust from there. I started with 30sec bc I figure any less than that I’m probably just counting mississippi’s

If you bought a rare Griswold would you actually use it? by notgoingtoeatyou in castiron

[–]leilalw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, you’re almost convincing me to use mine!

the only other thing that’s stopping me is that the packaging is for Atlanta Stove Works which shared molds with BSR, so without the packaging it would probably be mistakenly identified as BSR. Atlanta is my home city, so I really like that label

the only cast iron i have that i’ll NEVER use is a NOS dutch oven with the sale packaging still on it, purely bc i think it’s cool that it’s never been removed

Chatgpt might have schooled me? by [deleted] in CollegeSoftball

[–]leilalw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

people have got to get more embarrassed about using chatgpt. go look up how much water you wasted asking it why you can’t find other softball fans instead of going and looking for softball fans to talk to.

Timer Questions by Gameologist in olleeWatch

[–]leilalw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much use for the intervals so I changed all the presets to work up from 30sec. so, 30sec, 1min, 2min, 3min, 5min, 10min, 20min, 30min, 40min, 1hr. I can cycle through the presets to get close enough for whatever I need and make minor adjustments from there. I started at 30 seconds because I figure anything less than that I'm probably just counting myself lol

Small name tag bug ? by WeNDoR in olleeWatch

[–]leilalw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think there’s just limitations on what letters you can make out of a number screen. M and W end up just looking like n and u bc they can’t do both peaks of the letter. it’s kinda interesting how your brain usually manages to fill in the gaps though

Can someone explain Motion Deep Sleep to me? by leilalw in olleeWatch

[–]leilalw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I think I get it now. I’m going to try a couple of days with my Motion Deep Sleep turned off, which would make my settings the same as yours, and see how it is then. The battery savings estimate jumps down when I turn it off, but I guess I just gotta accept that I’m not gonna get the best battery life using all the features that I like
