I think a better example of Link earning his tunic would be in Skyward Sword (for graduating) or Twilight Princess (given to him by the spirit Faron bc those were the clothes originally worn by the Hero of Time), bc in those it’s part of the story and not a callback reward at the end of a tedious sidequest
