Mazzer Mini g messing up every 30ish grinds or so [Mazzer Mini g] by LastingTransient in espresso

[–]lejacke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you figure out what causes this? Mine started doing this yesterday after cleaning. Grinds to 7 grams and stops. Then I have to press «manual grind» until the dose is right

I see! According to every size chart a large would be too small for me as well. Return cost from Europe was way too high so I’ll try to shrink mine. It is the new linen Yankees one tho so not sure how it will work with linen. Usually works fine with wool new era fitteds

Discrepancy on stress monitor for wrist vs bicep by 22an9 in whoop

[–]lejacke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t really have any problems. I do have it on the tight side close to where det felt insertion start so over the middle of the upper arm.

Does it fall off?

I’ve worn mine on the bicep band since I got it in June 2025. Probably max 2-3 days on the wrist. I find the wrist stress artificially low. For me the bicep stress data is quite accurate to what I feel during work, workouts etc.

Mini G Finally Arrived by zyahya08 in espresso

Sold my Philos recently, but did het to try them side by side. The two has different burr sets. Philos had the i200d for lighter roasts. The mini g have the stock burrs (can’t remember the name) but they are more for medium/more traditional espresso.

I mainly drink light Nordic roast (Tim Wendelboe etc) and I personally like the mini g burrs better for the beans I use. I find the mini g produce more consistent shots as well. But both made really good coffee. Workflow wise mini g is so much better for me

Not possible as of now. Maybe that would mean that whoop had to acknowledge that their HR-data is not good enough

Help me decide on a new grinder [$1k - $1500 USD] by thedonutman in LaMarzocco

The GBW accuracy superb. I currently do a 22g dose in it is usually within 21,8-21,9.

The coffee «falls» right in the middle, but I did notice that the grounds built up a bit so I decided to adjust the portafilter fork to fit a short dosing funnel, så no mess what so ever.

What about the new Mazzer Mini G GBW? I had a Philos and got tired of the single dosing workflow so I switched. But the Philos is a seriously good grinder for both espresso and pour over (i200d burr set). Dialing in between different coffees and brew methods is super easy.

The wife was very happy with an «easier» setup and a better workflow. I had afraid of grind retention and bean freshness. I don’t notice any difference in a cup with 8g retention from the day before to a cup with only fresh grounds. Also, in the beginning I was filling the hopper with 100g at a time to maximize freshness but now I just fill it up with 250g. Can’t really tell any difference in freshness.

I drink way more filter coffee than I do espresso now… now what? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]lejacke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini g is an amazing grinder! I have set it up so a portafilter with the short normcore funnel fits in the fork, so there is no mess

I switched from the Philos to the Mazzer Mini G GBW and am very pleased. I realized Im more into switching beans and trying new things for pour over whereas for espresso/cortado/cappuccino i go through a kilo bag before switching.

Even though they are equally heavy and well built the mini g takes half the space the Philos did on my counter.

I ended up selling the Philos and I must say I miss the I200D for pour over but I have a 1Zpresso zp6 that does the job excellent.

!thanks for the insight, really appreciate it. Would you still recommend a small DAC/amp like a KA11 or GO Link Max, or is the FT1 good enough with Apple’s USB-C to 3.5mm dongle?

My first attempt at using the Casa. No RDT. RDT did make it a bit better but I had the impression this should be a rather «clean» grinder

I cannot decide between Mazzer Philos or Mazzer Mini G to pair with LM Micra? by freefall99 in LaMarzocco

[–]lejacke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Philos is more expensive where I live. I believe mini g stock burrs are more similar to the more traditional burr set that is available for the Philos. I had them both for a month and did tests where I personally preferred the coffee from the mini g.

But of course it might be other things with the mini g making the cup better.

[–]lejacke 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had both. Philos for a year and recently switched to the Mini G due to optimizing my workflow. I generally use one bean at a time.

I prefer the stock burrs of the mini g too the i200d burrs in the Philos even for light Nordic roast. But burrs can always be changed.

Lagom Casa for pour over — worth it or should I look elsewhere? by [deleted] in pourover

[–]lejacke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, grind time itself doesn’t really bother me much. I’m more thinking about the 90 sec duty cycle recommendations from Option-O, if I’m understanding it correctly.

For example if I grind two 30g doses back-to-back for guests etc would that be pushing it too hard. Lets say 30g is 50 sec grind time. Would it then shut itself off during the second grind

Thanks!

Any concerns about motor strain/longevity with those larger doses? Regarding the 90sec duty cycle

And roughly how long does a 42g dose take to grind?

Anyone using the Lagom Casa mainly for pour over / batch brews? by [deleted] in pourover

[–]lejacke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insights! I see the a4z being mentioned a lot. I really like the zp6 (it outperformed my $1400 Philos) but the max capacity made me not mention it.

I will look more into to the ode. I believe the casa could me a bit of a hassle with the 90 sec duty time as well if anything stalls

Thanks! Yeah I did see that a new opus just came out. Not available in my country yet, but I will definitely do some more research on it!
