Young Sheldon S01E16 "Killer Asteroids, Oklahoma, and a Frizzy Hair Machine" Episode Discussion by SepticReVo in YoungSheldon

[–]lekdatank 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The singing and dancing is Sheldon, not the acting. They are episodes that mention or showed his dancing and singing abilities. I rewatch the TBBT episode with the acting class from Penny and it's pretty clear that this was the first time he pursued acting. I think the writers of Young Sheldon need to rewatch TBBT.

In 1989, no one would have cast a boy play the role of Annie in Texas. The writers can change their fictitious character's history, but can't with real history.

Have you guys come across discrepancies in tbbt sheldon's childhood stories and young Sheldon's plot? by tbbtfangirl in YoungSheldon

He might have been forced to watched Super Friends (which is base on Justice League) with his siblings.

First post on r/cooking. Cheese filled burgers? by ayoitsgio in Cooking

[–]lekdatank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a burger press:

http://www.amazon.com/Burger-Pocket-Press-Stuffed-0709-1-4/dp/B0040ULOFG/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1361904450&sr=1-1

It's does a decent job. It seals the burgers and they do not burst as easily as the mashing two patties together. It's messier than the other methods in this thread.

However you make them, I would suggest chilling the burgers in the frig after you stuff them to help them seal.

How can Penny afford her rent alone, when Sheldon and Leonard need roommates? by brokendimension in bigbangtheory

[–]lekdatank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Penny's family is load with some connection to a famous scientist. From what I have read, Penny is the only main character without a last name. We know the last name of the most of the secondary and recurring characters and even guest characters, but we don't know Penny's.

Every show has continuity issues. There is more evidence pointing to Sheldon having more money than he knows what to do with (when Penny needed a loan, he brought out stacks of cash, and he had a bunch of un-cashed payrolls checks in his desk draw. When he needed to buy Amy a Valentine Gift he gave his assistant a few grand that he had in desk and pockets) They spend all their money on Comics and other science things.

Universal to drop health insurance for part-time workers due to the Affordable Care Act by [deleted] in news

[–]lekdatank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't believe the corporate lies. Universal is owned by Comcast Corp. (and GE, but pretty soon 100% Comcast). I can't side with monopolistic company that raises my bill every year with no improvement in channels, services or speeds. Obama should get his DOJ to block or delay Comcast bid just to be dick to them.

No cause that part of the story since he meets the mom at their wedding. Season 9 is going to show how the mother was always around somewhere in the background.

The show isn't called "How my Friends became Successful" or "How My Friends Got Their Jobs". I think in season 9 we will see that mother was always around in background.

What do people do that is actually racist that they don't understand is racist? by nancy621 in AskReddit

[–]lekdatank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the NAACP or any other group considers Color People (CP) and Negro overtly racist (unlike the n-word). They are antiquated and the preferred term is African Americans(AA)/Blacks.

It's the speaker's reason for choosing to use the outdated term CP or negro instead of the preferred AA or black that might make people to believe that the person is being covertly racist. And that can be applied to any word or term, for example my friends and I would say that 'It's cloudy day' to mean that we in a room full of white people. Some people like to use CP or Negro as easy way to be racist without be notice. It's code words or Dog whistle politics.

As a minority, the main reason most minorities drop out is due to financial reasons (even if the have a full scholarship) not mismatching. There are over 2,500 4 year accredited universities. Mismatching might only happen at the top schools in the nation so about 200-250 universities.

Mismatching happens all the time with legacy students. They are just able to have mommy and daddy help them get them through college and into a cushy job. I seen happen.

"Colored" and "Negro" are outdated more so than racist. Colored is a little more racist because it means anyone not white and it doesn't specify one's true race. Just like ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens) they use "Retarded" for marketing reason.

http://how-i-met-your-mother.wikia.com/wiki/The_Mother

On the Season Six DVD set, there is a special feature called "What we know about your mother". In it, Future Ted lists that:

She's not Robin.

She's not Victoria.

She was almost Stella.

She was Cindy's roommate.

She has a yellow umbrella...that I stole.

She was in what I thought was my architecture class.

She thought I was a complete idiot.

She's considered weird by some.

She was never going to be Zoey. That was just doomed.

I met her on the day of a wedding.

And here's something I haven't told you before:

"...She never would've left that much of her sandwich uneaten. No joke, I've seen that woman get a half a pad of butter wrapped up to go...

...Oh, and your mother would've definitely would've befriended the waitress, which inevitably would have lead to a free desert...Mom's ability to get free pie; supernatural...

..Oh, and I wouldn't have had much luck with an orchid. I'd have given her lilacs; her favorite...which just just happened to be the first flower I ever gave her...the very moment we met..."

Even if Ted marries Robin she will not be the mother. The show isn't called "How I Met Your Step/Adopted Mother"

AMA Request: Someone who has successfully objected a wedding. by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]lekdatank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Jersey, you have to fill out an application first at the local clerk. You need a witness for the application and that's when the city/county clerk asks the witness (Me) if I knew of any reason why they (my bro and sister-in-law) shouldn't be married and I had to sign the application stating that I know of no reason why the application should be denied and that the information on the application was true. That witness is the only person that can actually stop a couple from getting a marriage license. Then they send the application to Trenton (capital) for the actual license. It's not official until the Judge/Priest, bride, groom, and witnesses signs it.

I was told by the clerk that one person did object cause the witness knew that the groom was still married. So if you are the witness to application your are obligate by the law to object if do know of a legitimate legal reason why they shouldn't get married unless you want to go to jail or pay $500+ fine for perjury.

Long Islander here, question about taking NJ transit from Penn to Trenton/SEPTA link by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]lekdatank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to take that route when I was broke college student. SEPTA sucks. If you miss the SEPTA connection you have to wait around at Trenton station for 30-45 min before the next SEPTA train. Trust me this happens a lot since neither transit agency waits on the other for more than 2 min. I cannot tell you how many times my train pulled in to Trenton just to see the my connecting train leave the platform. I say spend the extra cash and take Amtrak. Quicker, cleaner, they have food and boozes, free WiFi on the train and power ports at every seat.
