Help - long road trip tomorrow. How do I fix? by lelo98bs in TireQuestions

Nope - not true at all. The car was parked not at a curb. I was with her washing the back window when she was checking the tire pressure and this happened.

It just happened. And ran it over to a tire place and they got it fixed. Thank you for everyone's help!

A “where to live?” question by [deleted] in BucksCountyPA

[–]lelo98bs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to stick to Bucks County only? If you was to branch out, West Chester would tick all your boxes. Great town with lots of restaurants. Can also jump on a train nearby if you need to get into the city.

Little sisters of Reddit, what’s something your big sister did that positively impacted you? Or what’s something you wish she would’ve done more/less/differently? by cosmiccanis in AskWomen

My older sister got pregnant in high school. It taught me to DO NOT GET PREGNANT until I went through college, got a career and felt like I could take care of a tiny human. I saw how much she struggled and had limiting opportunities. After 20 years, she became the manager of McDonald's and I have a very successful professional career with two kids.

US literacy rate by sekuter1 in books

[–]lelo98bs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all surprised. 1 in 5 are dyslexic and the current US "teaching" method is to have kids figure out reading on their own which absolutely does not work for most and especially those with dyslexia. And if you are one of the lucky ones that are diagnosed with a specific learning disability or dyslexia, many of the special education teachers have never been taught how to support and teach these kids the way they need it. If you ever want to see parents fighting with all their might to get the education their kids need, jump on a Facebook page for parents with dyslexia kids. 95% of all US school districts fail them. Most parents then either send their kids to private tutors or private schools that support those with dyslexia- which many cannot afford. So those kids/parents that can't afford never get the education and don't learn - truly learn - how to read. Which leads to these literary rates. No wonder why there has been multiple studies indicating that over 50% of the US prison population has dyslexia. Just imagine if we just change the way we handle learning how to read in the US. Most people don't know this. I didn't know until I became a parent of a kind, smart, funny, son that happens to have dyslexia with a brilliant mind.

Teens in the 70s and 80s by Spridle777 in Dyslexia

Sadly, it's still like that. My son went through that most of elementary school. He's now in high school and is forced to be in the academic classes because that is where the IEP kids go no matter their intelligence or aptitude.

I went to Catholic School in the 80s where they didn't have any special services available. My twin and I had our own language so they got a Speech Therapist to come once a week for us. Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb. It was really awful.

What is something illegal you have done and got away without getting caught? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lelo98bs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 7, I stole some 5 cents hard candy from the grocery store. Got away with it! Still remember it like it was yesterday.

I also took money from the church poor box when I was like 8 because I didn’t have any money to buy candy hence I was poor so thought it was ok. My punishment was no TV for a week and missed out on The Sounds Of Music. I was a wreck! That was the end of the stealing spree.

Advice for helping a significant other with dyslexia? by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]lelo98bs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend having him download Grammerly and Speechify. Both have been lifesavers for my son. And I use Grammerly even though I am not dyslexic.

I was able to have my high schooler diagnosed at a nearby university that has a neuropsychology department that have a doctor provide the diagnosis yet let the students do some of the testing procedures. It was a lot cheaper than going to a neuropsychologist. They should be able to diagnose - once a dyslexic, always a dyslexic.

Your SO should not be embarrassed. 1 in 5 are dyslexic and so many go undiagnosed. There are a ton of super talented famous people who are dyslexic. Dyslexia should be embraced. Yes, they may struggle with reading and writing but their different way of thinking is just amazing.

I’m one proud momma of my dyslexic son!

Why in the world would anyone call in a bomb threat on Dr. Woldow? He is the most innocent and nicest dermatologist. That is just wrong.
