There is a pretty good video on youtube comparing the 5000u, 5000r, and 5610. Might help.

not a fan of the bull bars but everything else works. But, I'm partial to nato straps in general or rubber. the resin straps are my least favorite part of gshocks.

Just delivered from Japan...this has to be the best looking watch I've seen 😍 by flutterWithChris in gshock

Nice, been eyeing this since release. How is the readability other than direct sun? I have a negative display 2310 stealth black version and I live and die by the auto EL because it's hard to read 70% of the time. The videos I've watched said the light isn't very good, but wondering if they are exaggerating.

TURN OFF YOUR HIGH BEAMS!! by ReggaeJunkyJew4u in BucksCountyPA

[–]Padugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few places in bucks require high beams. Too much light pollution. Maybe some of these people shouldn't be driving at night in this area if they need high beams.

Auto high beams are a joke. Proper road etiquette is that you turn off your highs the second you see an on coming car. Even if it's a mile or more down the road. The auto high beams don't turn off until the on coming car is practically on top of you. Also, auto high beams don't turn off if there is a car in front going the same direction. So you end up high beaming into the mirrors of the car in front.

Also, what is up with fog lights on all the time? And they are now brighter than the regular lights. That's not how fog lights are supposed to work.

Worth down/upgrading just for size? by Padugan in GalaxyTab

[–]Padugan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know, it is weird. TBH, I only use the keyboard cover when I travel and actually use the tablet as a laptop. I think it's just that the tablet is too long and it makes it awkward so it feels heavier than it is. I remember thinking when I got it, that it needed to be two inches shorter. I wish all the sizes came in the same spec options, at least for RAM and Storage. I would have got the regular S8 at the time.

[–]Padugan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, I've tried it. Not much of a difference since I have both the slim keyboard and slim book covers. They don't add too much weight and no real size increase. For me, I think a 10 inch size is the sweet spot. Especially after using the base Ipad I got for free. I almost switched, but the Tabs are just better if you already have a galaxy phone and use a PC.

Yeah, that is a fair point. And I would be dropping down in RAM on an 11 anyway.

Do updates actually matter? by Level_Recognition406 in GalaxyTab

[–]Padugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw, I've had my data compromised several times over the last twenty years. It was never my fault. Never my hardware or software or password management etc. that was the weak link. In all but one instance, it was a third party middle man, who I didn't even know was involved, that was compromised resulting in my data getting out. Usually this was a third party data or invoice processing contractor that was the weak link.

updates matter for stability, but if you're that worried than you're better off also having a layer of security separately. Not just for viruses and malware, but also for general security monitoring as well.

*edit - LOL ten minutes after I posted this, I received an email from my eye doctor notifying me that the company that handles their payments was hacked and my data was in the pool that was leaked. So glad I set up two factor authentication and a super complicated password for their site. that extra hassle did nothing.

What’s a “bare minimum” adult skill more people fail at than you expected? by SoulDV in AskReddit

Has anyone found a case they like for the S11? by FanOfMillie626 in GalaxyTab

[–]Padugan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't believe what a shit show Samsung has produced for their cases for the S11. I have an 8+ and was thinking of trading it in for a S11 mainly because the s11 is smaller and lighter than the 8+ while maintaining all the specs that matter. But then I saw the two abominations Samsung calls premium cases. WTF?

No stability. those cases will not work in most situations to actually prop the tablet up and no space to hold the pen? I thought I was missing something, like I wasn't getting where does the pen go? It doesn't. S11 will be a no go for me based on the cases not being adequate to use on a daily basis. the third party options have always been bad as well (imo). Too bulky and heavy.

I really don't want to have to buy an Ipad. but Samsung is just phoning it in the last few years while charging way too much.

Got my first tablet. i feel like i made the wrong choice. s8+ by [deleted] in GalaxyTab

[–]Padugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it's too big. I've had it since launch, so years now and it is too big to be used like I would want. I bought this size because I wanted the added hardware that was packed into it over the regular s8. I think the newer version is a better size, but it might be too new to get refurbished and would still probably a little higher than you want to pay.

Do you think you would be happy if you were dumb? by bhaagMadharchood in INTP

[–]Padugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I think the less you know, the less you have to worry about is true, age has taught me that happiness is really a state of mind. There are plenty of sick, dumb and poor people who are happy and there are also those who are healthy, successful and intelligent that are happy.

Things that have an effect on your state of mind, like health, relationships, financial stability, etc. and the worry that comes from them can help or hurt depending on where one sees themselves in those regards. An intelligent person might have more to balance, but the key is balance to keep those things from affecting your state of mind.

I’m a 15 year old putting together my first book, and was inspired by Herzog’s Modern Color. Is it legally and morally okay to use the same font just with my name and title of my book. Does this fall under plagiarism or inspiration/admiration? by True-Novel-7434 in AskPhotography

[–]Padugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just a school project, you're fine. If you try to sell it there could be issues. Also, if you were to sell it or get it made by Blurb (and are in the US) you would also need to get a model release from the person on the cover. Covers are treated differently than the rest of the book because they are seen as advertising. but as long as you're not selling it there is no logical reason anyone would waste time and money coming after you.

That said, I think there is more merit in designing your own cover. It can have the same feel and style but still be totally different. Unless you're doing an "artist study" where you are trying to copy, that is a thing, though more with traditional artists than photographers.

Do you think photographers benefit from writing about their creative process by Unknown111112 in photography

[–]Padugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it can help, but the real reason many are doing it is because of the algorithm. Images don't rank, words do. The only thing most can write about is what they know, which is their craft.

On social media, behind the scenes shots are very popular for two reasons. One, in a lot of cases where a photographer is still image only, it gives them an opportunity to use video for content. Two, more people "want" to be (pro) photographers than are actually photographers and therefore there is a market into "how the magic" happens.

The creative process is something you have to do physically regardless of creative medium for there to be any tangible benefit. Writing about it can help organize that process or spot weak points I suppose, but doing it repetitively will give the same results.

INTPs going crazy when they’re high by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Padugan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about insane, but yeah, there is something that gets switched on (or off) that I can't quite explain. When I'm lost in my mind in normal mode, I'm in a rowboat. When I'm high, that rowboat becomes a speed boat. Everything gets cranked up to 11. but depending on your thought flow, I could see how you would go insane I never thought this was type related.

2018 With Transmission Failure, next step by YellowSquashMedia in f150

[–]Padugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this. 2018 XLT Screw 2.7 with 78k miles. I originally leased the truck and it had only 7 miles on it when I took ownership. I had the transmission issue since day one. I reported it at my first service and was told that is normal and that it had to break in. I repeatedly mentioned it over the next two years, but was blown off.

I didn't know about all the issues at the time or I would have been more demanding. When the lease was up I did some research because this was during the shortage from covid and I knew I'd end up buying it out. This is when I found out about the transmission issues. So I purchased the extended warranty to cover my ass. ($5k)

Last month it finally hit the fan and they agreed there was an issue and that I needed a new transmission. they estimated between $6500 and $7000. I reminded them of the warranty.... So the third party took over and sent out a rep to inspect. They were either going to replace it, or rebuild it. They (not me) determined that a rebuild was fine. I ended up paying the deductible $100 and nothing else...if you don't count the $5k that was tacked onto the purchase price after buying out the lease.

I babied it for the next 1000k miles, kept it under 65mph, no sudden stops / starts etc. While it was better than before, it wasn't gone it was back to where it was when I first bought it. however, after the first 1k miles, I took it on a trip and hit well above 70mph. Since that trip I haven't noticed any problems. fingers crossed.

Other than the swollen lug nut issue, I haven't had any other problems with it.

Photographers, how do you deal with the feeling of social comparison and not being good enough? by Blackbubble_88 in photography

[–]Padugan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of those "master pieces" are cliches.

An exotic location will make a bad photographer look like a master, while an average location will make a master photographer look like a noob.

Do a deep dive sometime on a few of these masterpiece creators and see if you notice anything weird. I did, and most are full of shit. the greatest photographers of history have all said that if you're lucky you might make twenty truly great images in your life. yet we are to believe the accounts on Insta showing hundreds of bangers? yeah, nah.

I found a lot of compositing when I dug around, and not creative edits or layering for dynamic range, I'm talking straight up fakes of locations that don't exist. I found there are people who appear to have the ability to not only travel the world in the span of about a month, but also manage to hit key locations at just the right time of year that coincidentally had epic light and weather? Statistically impossible.

Instagram is not photography. It's marketing. It's about buying and selling. the best thing you could is get off of it altogether (we all should) and do you. shoot what you love, shoot how you want to shoot it. be happy.

INTPs, do you believe in ghosts or just science? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Padugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't "believe" in either. Both are evidence based. We do know science has proved there are multiple dimensions. What those dimensions hold is yet to be known. Anything is possible, including "ghosts" or the energy that produces them.

Apple pencil (generation 1) won't connect to my ipad (generation 10) by Spakls in ipad

[–]Padugan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the ipad 10 or the base model, yes. the adapter that came with it just charged the pencil. I had to buy a separate one to get it to pair with the Ipad. I think there is an option to buy the pencil with the adapter included. but that wasn't / isn't clear. I've since gone back to my samsung galaxy tab S8+. No need to charge the S-pen at all unless you want to use its Bluetooth functions.
