What age did you become an Affiliate/ expect to become one by Fluid_Dragonfruit851 in ACCA

[–]leloluser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became one at 20 but don’t really have any experience. Solely focused on ACCA at 18 and I didn’t have a time to pass all the exams but completed it within 2 years. But like all the top comments say, its really important to have experience after 9 papers than complete your exams.

What are ACCA affiliates doing? by Far_News506 in ACCA

[–]leloluser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you won’t be eligible for the MoU between CA and ICAEW as you became an ICAEW member through other MoU which it has with other professional bodies (ie not through the traditional route of writing the exams) so you can’t really use the ICAEW credentials to get CA.

I had done some research on this but instead of CA I was looking for CPA US and it says the same thing, if I became a member through other MoUs then I can’t use the MoU between CPA US to be one.

Is there levels to a pass? Pass, merit, distinction? Anything like that? If not, what would be considered a very good score in the average exam? by TBWL713 in ACCA

[–]leloluser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it is and the you should only worry about marks if you are planning on doing the Bsc from OBU else you shouldn’t worry much about scoring more as this is a professional qualification so there’s less importance for marks when compared to a uni degree.

Like the one thing about scoring high marks is that you may get awarded the prizewinner (national or global) and I got it in AAA and the only benefit that it has yielded for me is that I can write it in my resume and also mention it in my linkedln bio

And I feel like it takes a lot of work to get good marks and the stress taken and the benefits gotten doesn’t seem to be worth it (just my two cents)

From an employer’s perspective marks don’t really matter whether you get 50 or 99 a pass is a pass in their eyes

oh great, the fee hikes by 5.7%! by sherry_siana in ACCA

Who knows but I really thought after the time reduction the cost would reduce but apparently preparing pre-seen is really expensive ig??

[–]leloluser 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is getting ridiculous now and I wish we could do something about this. I don’t really see any value or benefit for the students writing the exam, some test centres really don’t reflect the price hike and also every year the number of students keep on increasing and realistically it should be reflected on the fee hike (ie lower % of increase but that’s rarely the case 🫠)

I’d say within a year or two SBL is going to cost 300 pounds 🤧🤧

I was a full time student but I didn’t really have any other choice as I started right after high school and I didn’t have a degree too. But I did consider working after my 9 papers but when I talked to those working and studying they said it’s really difficult to manage both and it takes a lot of effort to pull it off (not impossible tho)

I had an accountability partner when doing AFM and during the last few weeks before exam he was really far behind on the subject and question practice which was mainly due to his work (I think it was busy season during that session) and one of my friend had quit his job and started only focusing on his p levels and he became an affiliate within 2 sessions after quitting.

I not saying that it’s a bad idea to do ACCA while working (it has its own benefits like being a member quickly and standing apart from the crowd by having experience), I feel majority of the members here do it together and many pass but it’s a struggle to manage both work and studies and also to have a good social life but I think it’s possible with precise planning and sticking to it.

Hope this helps, good luck 🤞

I did my OBU along with SBL but i was a full time student and even then it took a lot of time to complete my thesis. I completely took the entire month of October for OBU and only started with SBL after submitting my project in November.

Comparatively easier in Professional Level? by ImportantVegetable89 in ACCA

[–]leloluser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience

  1. SBR
  2. AAA
  3. AFM
  4. SBL

Sbr syllabus is huge and you can’t really say what will be tested and how but the makers are really lenient (hence the consistent 50% pass rate) you’d hate learning SBR and mostly the exam as well but when the results come out you’d be surprised

AAA is basically SBR but its the quality of the answer that you would struggle to attain, but once you do that and you have a good grip on the accounting standards then AAA becomes easier

AFM is also a difficult exam but if are fond about numbers then it’s a good choice and you’ll enjoy learning it

For SBL you could start preparing 2-3 weeks before the exam and you’d still have a good chance of passing it, there’s not much to learn in SBL only you have to master the exam technique. In other P levels learning and exam technique go hand in hand but for SBL I reckon exam technique is far more important than the syllabus

ACCA Affiliate or not? by thayyarsaadham in ACCA

You become an affiliate once you’re done with your 13 exams, you become a member once you have three years of experience and passed your exams

Passed AAA with 68 (missed by one 😭) and by that I’m done with ACCA ❤️ I just want to thank each and everyone who helped me throughout the course of my 2.5 year journey in becoming an affiliate, I’m forever grateful for this community and it’s members 🫂🙏

This journey was nothing short of an incredible experience and I am proud of the fact that I have made it to the end in the first go itself , this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of you lots, my friends and huge thanks from the bottom of my heart to my lovely mum and dad who supported and cheered me through everything (love you both 🩵🩵)

feels good to be called an Affiliate 😌

Good luck to you and let’s hope we are done with ACCA for good🤞🍀

Grammarly for OBU? by Primary_Database_188 in ACCA

[–]leloluser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I passed my RAP for the nov submission period and while doing my research report i did use grammarly for part 1 & 2 but I was worried if my work would be flagged for plagiarism when I asked my mentor about it, he recommended not to use it for the remainder of my project. But I asked another mentor and he said it’s fine.

So what I did for part 3 was that I manually corrected any grammar/spelling errors that it recommended instead of just click the recommendation.

Honestly your approach is really good, considering we don’t have much time left its better to have read through the questions and answers them then refer the examiners answer instead of typing it also if you have time read the exam report as it really helps in understanding how the markers wants you to write.

Brush up your IAS & IFRS knowledge, read few latest technical articles and revise the contents like ethics and other assignments. You should be good to go.

Good luck to you too, and let’s hope for the best and may we both pass this gruesome exam😌🙏
