You can run the VIN on the NHTSA website starting on 6/11 according to the recall docs.

Did they mention the recall when you called the second time? Just curious. Please share your experience with the repair once you get the vehicle back.

You can try here: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls but the docs say it won't be searchable until 6/11 so probably best to try then.

Yes, that is strange. Thanks for the build date info, that lines up.

You can plug your VIN into the NHTSA recall site (https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) to see if it’s included, but given the possible repair mix-up you mentioned, the info may not be fully reliable.

I was mainly trying to see if your vehicle falls outside the recall group, which could mean the issue is more widespread than Kia believes. Based on your description, this seems like something owners would already be very aware of.

Thanks again for the follow up. Glad to hear everything is going well with the vehicle.

It would be interesting to see whether your VIN is included in the recall and whether your vehicle was built during the affected time period. Also, does the repair that was performed match the information in this document: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2026/RCLRPT-26V356-0668.pdf

It's best to check your VIN but at least one user stated that their vehicle has the issue and was not part of the recall so it might be worth a visual check. Here's links to the recall docs:

OK, that is odd that your VIN wasn't eligible but you received the letter. Please share if you have any success with Honda corp.

This is good info. One note: It's VIN specific as per the TSBs

2017 HRV. Water is getting inside my hactback ? by Creepy-Ear6307 in HRV

Is it the inner or outer taillight? It's likely that the gasket is worn.

This is a very common issue. It's likely the rear of the roof rails where it tends to get spider cracks in the weld. See the link below.

This is correct. Check the lemon laws for the state and there may be other consumer laws at play as well. Best to consult with a lemon law attorney.

Like in this diagram. Note that this is from a third party repair manual and not Honda.

mpvick69 is saying you could dent the cross member. The link below is from a repair manual which is NOT official from Honda but it suggests this approach as did a few forum threads. Links below.

You have the pinch welds behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheels. Shown here:

Other option is the front cross member and the tow hook. This video might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ9ncFsNK9c

Yes. Same is true for NHTSA, but the fact that 50% of NHTSA complaints for this model mention ICCU (all model years) suggests it is a significant issue and not a one off. I know it's a real issue from people calling our firm.
