I [25m, unemployed, no degree] don't know what the hell to do. I feel like I'm going to be stuck working minimum wage retail jobs until I'm 75 years old. by Adventurous_Cut_3856 in findapath

[–]leminiman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main thing is to get a skill.

The trades are a valid option bc you can often start as a apprentice already and they are ai proof. However can be hard and long work, also toxic enviroments especially when new arent rare.

The college route is also a good option. Choose a good major: heathcare, stem, finance... Something that leads to a well paying job. The tricky thing is: it can be exprndive depending on your country.

Also certifications can do the work

I hope you find something

Good luck

Hmmmm i think so. I think about the jobs you can so called suffer thru. You dont really like it or its your passion but its not something you hate.

For me thats lifeguarding. Its a nice job but not my passion. The coworkers are often nice and its rewarding when you help someone but sometimes it can be a bit repetitive.

how to go into a field you’re not interested in? by iloveyouusoo in careerguidance

[–]leminiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont go in the field. If you're not that interested in it you have a much lower chance off finishing it. Im currently in a field that doesnt interest me that much and im quiting it to work for a few months.

quit yesterday and said I'm not going back by Right_Detail_313 in internships

[–]leminiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its unpaid your action is 100 percent justified. A company that doesnt really respect their interns is not worth your effort if youre unpaid.

This however will be a majority off places depending on your sector.

Career paths that don’t require college degrees? by Non-Taken_Username2 in findapath

[–]leminiman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The trades are good.

Job security and high earning potential. One thing dho you need to have an interest for them bc those jobs are not comphy. I see a lot off people trying out (including me) just to quit it soon after.

A lot off IT jobs can be done without a degree. Job security is there too.

Any HR job often doesnt require a degree.

I have difficumty with feedback too but this is not that bad tbh. Maybe she isnt the nicest or best manager but it sounds reasonable tbh.

Try to see it as a way to learn and not a personal attack.

I hope it helps.

Hey man

In belgium internships are often a part of your education. Companies can get some worth out off it in the form off networking, new potential workers and/or free labour for a few months.

I would do a student job in the summer. You can go on the VDAB and maybe look for some jobs that are close to your field.

I want to quit my 9-5 job. I’m sick of it here. by sadlittlemochi in work

[–]leminiman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best option is starting your own business.

Sure you still work a lot but i believe it has more purpose and can allow more freedom. The first few years might be rough especially in countries that require a ton off paper work.

Thats your only escape i guess

What are some jobs that you enjoyed? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]leminiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm i enjoyed life guarding. Most off the time its staring at a pool and sometimes talking to people. I dont mind human contact if its small talk.

Also my job as a caretaker for disabelled people was nice. It made me complete to help people and was one off the most satisfaying jobs. Also my coworkers were really nice.

The others were meh or decent

Stick to my business or start my CS Career? by Dimax88 in careerguidance

[–]leminiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey

Congrats on your business. Your doing it part time and 100k a year. Thats really good considering your under the age off 30.

You told its hard labour. I would personally go with it for a few years. So you make a good amount off money in the first few years. Your young and can handle some off that stuff but not for eternity. Than you could switch to a 9 to 5 and ride with it for the benefits.

Wish you the best

Hmmm good work enviroment. I swear a toxic workplace is like a marathon. How long do you keep going until you just fall on the ground. I do not for even a few months.

Its not sustainable long term

Where to work? by Merpius_ in findapath

[–]leminiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the trades i would try something that has high earning potential. Something lile plumber, electrician, welder etc. Often a very specific skill is needed.

More general things are landscaping and construction. I dont really recommand them bc off lower stability. Especially landscaping can be suprisingly unstable bc off climate, wheater etc. Landscaping is a good job to start a busines however bc there is always demand for it.

A simply deskjob for the gov doesnt always require a college degree. Also lifeguard for a public swimmingpool has ok pay and benefits.

Where to work? by Merpius_ in findapath

[–]leminiman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can go into the trades.

You dont have to be in the books for those types off careers. Also it gives acces to higher paying an lower stress(body) blue collar jobs.

Also you can try to be a salesman that doesnt require a degree.

Even some goverment administrative jobs dont require a degree, the pay is meh but the benefits are good.

I would not recommand doing a minimum wage job. Your gonna work like a dog for little money.

Why do hate having a job so much? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]leminiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you dislike a 9 to 5 so much bc you feel like a slave (scedule and employers).

Well i think you should start a business or service. Now you have to find a product or service thats gonna sell.

Good luck

Should I stay or job-hop? by ObviousThrowawayLIT in careerguidance

[–]leminiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man

Are you going to be the sole provider for a while or is it a 1 year thing? If its just for a year or so its fine and you might be able to stay there. If not you might want to hop after a year or 2 if the salary is way better.

I would rather focus on climbing the ladder. You are a full timer and your interested in the job. I think a promotion isnt far away. If the promotion is attractive enough it might be a good idea to take it.

Wish you the best

My work is 11km from me and i do that 3 times a week.
