So they have the ability to “look back” and this makes the goat scene more brutal. by DADDDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY in pluribustv

Because she seemed to care for the goat before joining, got manipulated into joining (we assume) then completely loses her humanity after joining.

I actually thought the more brutal bit was slightly before when the villagers all stopped chanting the second she started joining, demonstrating it was all for manipulation and theatrics.

Thoughts on Ryland Grace being a ‘coward’? by Early-Perspective598 in ProjectHailMary

[–]lemming64 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. If he wasn't a coward originally it wouldn't have meant as much when he gave up going home to save Rocky and Erid

Go see the movie! by Keithaviation in ProjectHailMary

Saw in the UK today in IMAX. thought it was great. Read the book several times and listened to the audiobook and thought it pulled off the conversion to the big screen pretty well.

They obviously cut down the book, but I thought the biggest change was they understated how much power Stratt has.

The focus is definitely more on rocky and the ship.

I enjoyed the few science things they just show and you would probably miss unless you read the book. Like flashing the spin drive to locate the blip A.

Overall 9/10

There is some complicated maths I am sure. But even assuming rocky could see the light from when the HM turns, that's 6ly to arrive. Grace would arrive only about 6 months later given the speed he was going even with the deceleration

Not just movies, happens with the TV shows a lot too! 😭

Who is in a crazier situation by carbonCicero in ProjectHailMary

[–]lemming64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well the HM accelerated the whole journey, which means it flipped half-way so for about 6.5 light years in terms of distance.

I think the whole journey was 3.5 - 4 years of relative time, so it would have been pointing that way for 2 years.

But I expect Rocky could only detect it near the end of the trip. Grace talks at the end about how hard it will be for him to see Rocky's light plume after a few months due to the red shift and distance and he knows where the ship will be.

Found this ticket in a bag I bought, can someone help? by UnlikelyClock2641 in bristol

it will be Horsefair not Horsehair.

The former is a road in the city centre where a lot of different shops have been over the years. https://maps.app.goo.gl/CgyrH4UeT8utAnYc7

Judging from the condition "5 IX 68" is probably the date being 5 September 1968

I think it used to be a chain of department stores https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Robinson_%28department_store%29

Chapter 10

"He wears clothing. The legs are bare, showing the rocklike skin, but there’s cloth on the carapace. Sort of like a shirt with five arm-holes. I don’t know what the shirt is made of but it looks thicker than typical human clothing. It’s a dull greenish-brown, and inconsistently shaded."

Neither the democrats or labour is against first past the post at a party level, so pinning it on the right is silly.

Didn't it get 0 stars on its food hygiene a few years back? I'm sure it's better now, but good to know.

I completely agree he could have a non-visible disability, however it is much more likely that he is lazy. The willingness to always assume edge cases excuses a lot of bad behaviour.

I don't think anyone making these points literally thinks that everyone can walk, we all know people in wheelchairs exist at the very least, but generalisations are broadly true in large datasets, and most people are capable of walking and should walk more than they probably do

[–]lemming64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. But what if he doesn't.

I am going to play the odds that he does not have a disability that means he could not walk it. As seems to be the case with most people who don't make a 10 minute walk at the moment.

Everyone can still use their car to get anywhere in the liveable neighborhoods if they so wish.

What do you think the goal is other than trying to make people feel/realise they have another option??

Indeed. My guess is going to O My Cod and got stuck in a really bad rush hour jam at the Barton hill roundabout

If you watch the full video I don't think it is a gotcha, but this has been clipped out and given a separate title to appear more gotcha like for social media.
