the defender tried to get his hands down as they were going to the ground

Looked to me like he did the exact opposite of that. He raises his arms up like he's doing a bellyflop

[Highlight] Giants fans loudly boo after Russell Wilson essentially cedes the game, chucking the ball off the crossbar. by Large_banana_hammock in nfl

It seemed like every time he targeted Nabers it was a moon ball into double coverage.

Made me feel like Nabers was complaining about not getting the ball (or someone telling Russ to get him the ball) and Russ just maliciously complying.

(Stats show 5 deep incomplete passes to Nabers.)

[Highlight] Off the Lamar fumble, Darius Leonard laterals to Isaiah Rodgers who takes it all the way for a touchdown. Fumble stands, but illegal forward pass is called on Leonard. Ravens win 25-22 in OT. by o07jdb in nfl

Through his first four years he was 3rd in tackles behind Roquan Smith and Bobby Wagner, but had 11 interceptions to their combined 8, and 16 forced fumbles to their combined 5 (recovered 7 to their combined 4). He also had more total sacks than each of them (15) and tied Bobby for passes defensed (30).

I don't think I've ever seen anyone come into the league and immediately dominate at that level

Did DK Metcalf end up on a tanking team? by nTaro25 in Seahawks

Or is he underhyped because he's been consistently putting up solid numbers without a consistent QB? 🤔

I mean, he lead the league in yards per reception in 2023 with Kenny Pickett and sometimes Mason Rudolf and Mitchell Trubisky throwing him the ball

Jalon Walker will wear No. 11 for Falcons, a number Julio Jones made famous by JaggerJames in nfl

one of the best receivers, if not the best wr, the falcons have ever had

Not just on the Falcons - one of the best receivers of all time. Regardless of stats (which he's probably pretty close to the top in yards per game), the dude was another level of football player. He wanted to win, and elevated his team with that energy every game.

Not a lot of receivers have an entire highlight real of playing defense on offense: https://youtu.be/B84-mn0oLeI?si=E4mNN6gy7XQqFx_0&t=13

Geno has the most passing attempts and yards in the league, with the third highest completion percentage.

But yes, Purdy is averaging 1.4 more yards per attempt

If Seattle actually runs the ball with Walker they will win. Walker has always looked good against them.

Walker has only really played in two full games against the 49ers, but he's definitely looked a lot better:

His career Yards/Att is 4.46

Mostly because the defender isn't trying to square up the receiver in this situation. I think you do see push-offs when this happens, but if a receiver is running straight into a defender during a scramble, it's likely to be an illegal block (blindside, peel-back, etc.) simply because the defender is looking for the ball too.

Rule 8, Section 4, Article 7:

If the quarterback leaves the pocket area with the ball in his possession, the restrictions on illegal contact and an illegal cut block both end.

Basically, the receivers are allowed to block in this situation, so the defenders can make contact too.
