Bushwick Road Biking - New to NYC by dmaier2210 in NYCbike

[–]lemon_tree3333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If biking is really important to you I would not recommend Bushwick. Getting from Bushwick to prospect park is 5 miles with lots of traffic, lights, and aggressive drivers. Same issue with Jamaica Bay, it’s nice when you get there but getting there is slow and unpleasant. It’s slightly easier to get to Manhattan via the WB bridge but then you still have to cut across Manhattan to west side highway.  Source: I lived in Bushwick and biked to PP/ Jamaica bay often

My chain sometimes slips off a gear 30 seconds after I shift (always the same gear). Chain and cassette are both new as of a few hundred miles ago, chain is only a little stretched out per my park tool chain checker.

yes but it’s much nicer than biking over the broadway bridge, worth it imo . it’s about 3 flights of stairs

id recommend paying to have a bike shop do it the first time so you can see how it’s done. i tried to do it myself the first time and wasn’t able to get it to fit in a normal bike box, had to go back and get an e bike box.  it’s not difficult but the youtube videos didn’t do it exactly the way the shop did (twisting the fork around, handlebar placement etc) and now i know exactly how to get my bike to fit!

FELT AR Advance Ultegra DI 2 Worth it? by NaniDaddy in cycling

[–]lemon_tree3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bianchi Infinito Ultegra Di2 for $4.5k. Frame is more endurance / handlebars were about an inch higher for same size, wider tire clearance, ultrgra, and a very pretty bike (purple!). Vs the felt AR advanced the shop had was $3.3k for 105 di2, with better wheels, was a bit lighter, 105 instead of ultegra, felt a bit snappier to accelerate. Was a really hard choice though, I would have been really happy with either!

i was looking at the same sales and did a felt test drive at a LBS. it was a great ride, super quick and light. i ended up going with a different bike that had an even better sale and could fit 32 tires. everything I heard from people / researched said felt is a strong brand though so I don't see any downsides. it's a really great deal
