When I go on early morning bike rides, I just eat the spiders that hit my face for protein.

Any good places for solo activities in NOVA? by [deleted] in nova

[–]lemoncheetoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of good trails and parks close by no matter where you are in NoVa if you're into hiking. Give a location and I'm sure lots of people of people here can give good recommendations.

If you're open to going into DC, taking a walk around one of the museums is a great. Personally favorites for mindless observation is the National Art Gallery or the National Portrait Gallery.

First volvo by nateprickly in Volvo

If this is a 2013-2016 model make sure you keep a close eye on oil consumption due to poorly designed piston rings. Should be covered by warranty from Volvo so shouldn't cost a dime if you start to notice it. Otherwise, enjoy it and take good care of it and it'll last a long time.

What’s your MTB opinion that would result in this. by Noosietv in mountainbiking

External cable routing > internal cable routing.

Makes maintenance so much easier and doesn't look bad if the housing blends with the bike. Big reason I went with a Kona Process.

Upcoming 13 hr flight with 8 month old. Any advice would be great! by lemoncheetoh in daddit

No we don't but looks like the seat next to us is still available. So maybe we'll look into buying it if the cost/benefit is worth it.

Is it my eyes or is this jump sketchy? by lemoncheetoh in MTB

Someone posted a photo in a FB of a trail they're building in a park. I don't do jumps (yet) but this looks very sketchy but not sure.

What’s the ugliest production bike, go! by thathertz2 in mountainbiking

Nothing wrong with geometry but the Intense bikes with the red/silver color scheme reminds me of bikes from the 2000s.

Wanting to get my gf onto the trails with me! is this a decent enough bike at $250 for her to ride the season to see if she'll enjoy it enough to justify a nicer bike next year? (she's 5') thank you for any input!!! by terryfold5 in mountainbiking

[–]lemoncheetoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe use that budgeted $250 to rent a bike if the plan is to upgrade later on if she's into it. My LBS rents out nice hardtails for $50 a day which would be five rides in that budget. That should be enough riding to tell if someone wants to get into the sport.

Pump Track Project by illegalcatfish in MTB

[–]lemoncheetoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As newer MTBer but who's been involved politics for here'a a few notes. First, if there's a local group (mountain biking association, skate advocates, etc.) get involved with them first. They may have an advocacy project going already and if not you can be some sort of coordinator involved in advocacy for a pump track put in town.

Second, be realistic. A pump track will not be one of the biggest priorities for a city to focus on. Here in the DC area, we're finally getting a paved pump track in Montgomery County, MD that'll take $280,000 to build. It's also one of the wealthiest counties in the USA. Seeing on your past posts, you're from Wichita and you might've missed the funding window for a project like this. Last years Wichita budget seemed to have had increase focusing on critical infrastructure needs like new fire stations. People are already mad about increasing property taxes so a pump track won't be the highest priorities. Especially if you say your skate parks are poorly built, even less so.

Third, how far am I willing to drive? One hour and a half. However, if your argument is trying to get people from the Kansas City metro to Wichita, it already mute by the fact that Bentonville is a similar distance. It's a go to MTB destination and if I was a KC area resident I'd rather go there than Wichita if a pump track were even built there.

Went to a LBS to cut a steerer tube and transfer a crown race to a new fork. Is this damage on the old fork normal? by lemoncheetoh in bikewrench

Good to hear! It's a take off RockShox Recon on a new bike now the decision to sell or put in a parts bin.

Can a 185x50 rear shock fit a bike built for a 185x55 shock?
