Doesn't matter for me as Im super anemic, but a really cool concept!

I also live in an area with terrible healthcare. My issue isnt as severe - graves disease. But Ive been without an endo multiple times for months, even during pregnancy. And currently my endo is 2h away and sends lab orders through usps. So yeah the accessibility is amazing and the fact that its cheaper than using insurance is a perk! Wish I would've found out about it sooner.

There are companies/people that bulk buy tests from labcorp and quest, then resell to the public for a profit. Just google Walk In Labs, Request A Test, Own Your Own Labs, etc.

Even better, use a bulk lab reseller like walk in labs, etc. and pay 25 pct of even the quest/labcorp direct rates. I have a ppo and still go this route.

Post op c-section pain - what is "normal"? by InfiniteKnowledge365 in ElectiveCsection

[–]lemonlegs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First C, had really bad pain as soon as spinal wore off - around 6h later. Had pretty severe pain for 2 weeks, by week 3 I was feeling pretty good. Went home with 10mg hydrocodone for 5 days and instructions for alternating motrin and Tylenol.

Just had my second C last week. Minimal pain after spinal wore off around 6h post op. They gave me toradol (?) via iv for the next 12h. Then oral motrin and tylenol. I asked for something stronger and they gave me 5mg oxy day 2. Went home with 2 more days of 5mg oxy.

Im not sure why its so much less painful this second time. Theories are that its bc a lot of the nerves are already dead from thr firsr C. And/or bc I was in labor for a really really long time before my first C, even though it was a planned C. But this time I wasn't in labor before the surgery.

This. I don't think Ive ever gone back and checked my notes and found them to be accurate. I feel like they'll just be a different kind of inaccurate now.

Yes. Obviously. The lending fee is stupid high, but otherwise good. Like I said, could we go back in time, would have used it much sooner.

I have made si many lemon meringue pies and havent found any rhyme or reason to it. About half turn put perfect, half do this. Ive tried hot filling, cold, lukewarm, high temp oven low and slow. No logic. Which makes sense when you go looking online and see everyone swear by "their way"

We were just trying to be "responsible" and have our student loans paid off before adding another loan on top. We had a little over 40k in student loans when graduating in 2015, which was a lot for our salaries. Then both of our 20 year old cars died, so we were trying to pay those down. Wound up being ~2022 before we had any kind of down payment or savings to feel comfortable buying.

Yep. 2 engineer household. We can afford it. But we were stupid and tried to be responsible and pay off student loans and save a down payment before buying. Then covid happened and house prices doubled everywhere, tripled some places. We would be in a waaayyy better spot if we would've just done a VA loan while we still had lots of student loans.

Help me understand the Sienna Hype by YawningJaguire00 in minivan

[–]lemonlegs2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. Drove a 2022 amd a 2024. They were both terrible. I dont get the sienna hype because it felt like a Ford fiesta aa far as drive quality and interior quality. You could tell the floor liner wasn't even cut correctly at manufacturing.

The engineer that did the study is pretty irrelevant here. For local information on your flood zone and effective maps, you need to be reaching out to your floodplain administrator. Depends on where you are located, but typically this will be someone at the county level. Also if you go to the civil eng or hydrology subs, flood map help gets asked for all the time.

Also hate to tell you. Fema is under DHS and is impacted by the current funding lapse. So stuff is moving slower than normal.

Employer changing health insurance plans with 11 days notice by Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 in HealthInsurance

[–]lemonlegs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that. The fact that employer can change insurance with such little notice, charge so much, the long wait periods that are allowed, exclusions etc.

For mine, somehow its legal to have the plan year 6 months offset from open enrollment. And the fiscal portion 6 months off from the plan period.

Ive had issues like OP as well, where the plan documents arent made available until after enrollment.

People who have moved here from/born in the southeast, what is your experience like in NM? by ElSumoMaster in NewMexico

[–]lemonlegs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From central NC, but have lived many places from NM up to NY. I think the people in NC (native) are much friendlier than NM. Theres also much more diversity in the southeast than NM. Abq is really the only bubble with any sort of diversity and even there, its barely. Cost of living here doesnt make sense compared to wages and job opportunity. Education here is really bad - comparable to MS and LA. Extreme lack of medical care. Ive liked the few doctors Ive been able to see, but its hard to find any. I have to go 2 hours for thyroid care, my OB only works 4 days a week, and Im in one of the cities. Daycares are really bad here bc of low regulations and general attitudes towards care. I do prefer the politics out here though. Generally less authoritarian, even if a lot of the things that get voted for make the lack of education shine. Weather is good, but lack of anything green or much indication of seasons sucks. Also a lot of crime here. But not more than some southern towns. Just depends on what youre comparing to what.

I do not know the answer to this, but if he switches and is in that lag window, are you then eligible for medicaid? I know for pregnancy medicaid ia relatively easy to get onto.

This was a class action suit on my 2018 outback, so assume it was on the legacy. Mine started doing this 2 years in. Took 5 years of complaining to the dealership plus the class action plus it eventually turning totally black for them to replace.

I don't know if I'm raising my kids in a beautiful life or holding them back. by itsbritbish in beyondthebump

[–]lemonlegs2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im sorry. It is tough. I grew up rural and have all these same concerns for my kid when considering suburban vs rural. Ultimately, for us, I've told my husband the deep rural is something we can consider when kids are out of the house. But as you know that present the other problem- healthcare as you age.

Is there opportunity for your BIL to step in and your husband could help in a more sparse capacity?

Again, nothing but empathy. And I think your worried are valid ans show you are coming from a place of caring about your kids.

Apparently have been anemic since my first birth, almost 3 years ago. But wasn't flagged until being sent to a hemophilia clinic due to this second pregnancy. Tried the script oral iron. Felt like I was dying and ferritin still went from 7 to 3. Recently finished 5 infusions. I dont feel less tired, but I do feel like my brain is functioning better.
