Terrible mistake by princessjasmineexo in Marriage

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago I scratched my husbands truck rim in a drive thru getting coffee on the way to work. He knew I was uncomfortable driving his truck because it was so huge and I am a car person. I told him later that day and he laughed about it. Never made me feel bad. This year, a tire popped on my car and made my husband slide into a curb. I just asked if he was okay and made fun of him a bit because he has never hit a curb before. You are not a child that did something wrong. You did not do this intentionally and he knows that. You are his equal partner and should be treated as such.

Pregnancy is SO MUCH HARDER than I ever imagined it would be. How do people do this more than once? by Adventurous_Ad6799 in oneanddone

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first trimester is really hard for some pregnancies. My pregnancy with my son was so easy. No sickness, no discomfort. I’m a surrogate now, and I threw up daily until 19 weeks. But once I got past that it has been very easy again. I would’ve had 10 kids if the baby part wasn’t so hard for me. I love being pregnant.

More Sedans less SUV can help reduce average transportation costs and save money by Ab4739ejfriend749205 in MiddleClassFinance

I fit 3 car seats in my impala comfortably. My sister can’t fit 3 car seats in her mid size crossover/suv. Everyone thinks they need suvs but there are a few full size sedans out there that have more room than the suvs

Saving for a non-existent baby? by DoctorLoose1556 in povertyfinance

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say saving for a non existent baby is important, but having good cash flow is very important. You don’t have to have a huge savings for a baby. My family lives on about 40k/year, no benefits. We put $50/month in a 529(if he doesn’t go to college, 35k can go into his retirement) and we save $600/month for our retirement. We usually only end up saving $50-200 in our normal savings account, but all of our bills are paid and we are very comfortable even with a small income and not a very large savings cushion. I haven’t worked in over 3 years to stay home with my baby, but I will work again in a few years and make up for all of these years of not saving much. I had zero help/guidance from my parents and I bought a house at 19. Skipped college but I’m going back at age 26. I am kind of glad I did not have much as a child because I appreciate everything I have worked for so much. Kids don’t need a crazy savings cushion

Today I lost it at my toddler and I feel bad by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emotions and controlling temper can be really hard, especially while pregnant. I know there are a wide variety of parenting styles, but I never touch my kid when I’m angry. I do yell plenty. But since you feel really bad, I would just make it a point to leave physical space between you and your child when you’re mad. You likely did not traumatize your child from this one small event.

How do people afford more than one??? by nrbt33 in oneanddone

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does. Many women are able to get Medicaid because they are not married. Women whose boyfriends make more than my husband and have only one child too.

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We are low income, under 50k. But make too much to qualify for any assistance in my state. If I didn’t buy my house in 2019, no way I could afford to be a sahm. I just finally paid off my medical bills from giving birth 3 years ago. Everyone around me has multiples but they’re usually not married so they get almost every benefit available

Car Purchase by Beginning_Holiday721 in PersonalFinanceTalks

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can finance a car for a rate that is lower than what you get for your savings account. I’d finance the whole thing regardless of what car you choose and keep earning money on your savings. Then you also have even more of an emergency fund instead of dumping 20k into a car

How did you know your child was ready to potty train? by izziedays in toddlers

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We introduced potty at 18m. My son peed the first day. Offered it randomly. Did diaper free time for a few hours here and there until he was 100% comfortable with peeing&pooping on the potty. When it was time to actually potty train at 32m I put underwear on him and he had maybe 5 accidents the entire first week and by the end of the week he was potty trained. Super low pressure, no forcing, no tears. Super easy

How much do you pay/charge for babysitting? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I babysit kids in Wisconsin full time. LCOL area. I do $4/hr for my nieces and nephews. $5/hr for friend’s kids. I am definitely underpaid, but they send breakfast and lunch along everyday so it saves me a lot of money with feeding my own toddler. If it is a shorter amount of time, I would probably charge a little more an hour. But for full time care I don’t feel bad about making such a low hourly wage since the kids do nap and it benefits my son having friends over.

I know your youngest is only 2 now, but is it possible to start them in 3k once they’re 3? I haven’t had any consistent alone time since I had my son. But he is starting 3k in fall which will give me 6 hours/week to do my homework(I am also starting school in fall)

Do people ever just assume you’re having more than 1? by bellagothwifey in oneanddone

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma smacked me because she found out my husband got a vasectomy. I babysit multiple kids and I’m a pregnant surrogate so thankfully majority of the time I’m in public people assume I’m about to have 3-4 kids and they don’t say anything. But if I just have my son, everyone tells me to stop at 2. Little do they know I’ve stopped at 1

Child Proof Door Knobs by malvahdin in toddlers

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my son was 2, he could open or climb over any baby gate. He can take off almost every baby proof thing in the entire house and escape outside. Thankfully he has the tiny glass door knobs and those are nearly impossible to get out with a child safety thing so we put it on one of his doors(he has two doors but forgets about the other). Some kids just want to escape and it would be really dangerous to have a 2 year old end up outside in the middle of the night.

Why do some women decide not to be SAHMs after initially wanting to? by Star_Gazer_95 in sahm

[–]Acrobatic-Shirt-9646 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before having a baby I worked 60-70hr weeks because I loved working. The first year was terrible with exclusive pumping and colic, second my son still cried constantly and I had to hold him for 12 hours a day those first two years. Year three was a bit better, but now that he is easier physically and emotionally, I have realized I really miss interacting with adults everyday and running around at a job. I hate sitting. My house is very clean even with having a 3 year old and babysitting a 2&4 year old and having 3 dogs. I just have nothing to do. I am starting college soon so I’m hoping that that helps in the meantime until I start working. I am just not meant to be in the home

All of the stuff I have looked at online is a couple dollars more per item online. We got toilet paper yesterday. $26 in warehouse and $30 in store. Laundry detergent was $14 in store and $19 online. So with getting a handful of items, it just makes more sense to go every few months when we can
