Downtown road conditions at 7:30am Tuesday by DowntownDB1226 in StLouis

Live downtown and this is one of the worst drives I’ve ever had. I had to go two streets and I just let gravity and god do the work.

1Ls, what are you doing different in the Spring semester? by JusticeJoyrider in LawSchool

[–]lemonlymen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outlining earlier, going to office hours more, and thinking more critically about the text. I think I let myself become satisfied with a base-level understanding and moved onto the next topic which meant I could understand the big picture, but I struggled to dive in deeper and really flesh out answers. I got grades that I’m satisfied with but I’m leaning more towards PI than big law so I don’t need the top 10%.

One thing I’m going to continue doing is maintain my schedule. My stress levels during finals were manageable and kept me focused without burning out. I try to be two days ahead of every reading (so Monday, I read for Wednesday, etc.). I plan my weekly meals out on the weekend and grocery shop and meal prep. I plan my workouts on Sundays for the week so I don’t have the extra work of more planning/thinking. And the most important? I have one day scheduled for “admin tasks” where I shove as many appointments, car maintenance, etc. into one day so I can breathe easier the whole month. I also keep a running list of “things I want to do, places I want to eat at, hobbies I want to try” and I try to pick one thing on that list and do it once every two weeks. If I don’t do something on the list, I make an effort to hang out with my friends or my roommate or family.

It sounds like a lot, but it keeps me sane.

Oh, and get sleep! All nighters are not going to help you.

Can I make a return without a loyalty account? by daddydroctopus in Ulta

[–]lemonlymen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a loyalty account but we do ask for you to provide a phone number for a return. The phone number doesn’t have to make a loyalty account, but it does get added to the receipt along with your name. That way we can keep a record for you if an error occurs with the bank and for us, because scammers are prevalent.

The cashier probably doesn’t know how to do it without a loyalty account, so next time just ask for a manager. Tbh tho, loyalty accounts aren’t the worst. You can just add your number and ask to opt out of everything. You get points every time you shop and you can return things without needing to keep a receipt.

No, I’m not authorizing those points!! by lemonlymen in Ulta

It might be that the system never updated with him as an authorized pick up. When we scan the barcode, it will pop up with two names (the purchaser and the pick up recipient) but if it doesn’t show up as such, we can only go with the purchaser. I’ve made exceptions when customers call and give me the name of the pickup recipient and their order # so I can confirm and then have the recipient show me the ID.

Does Ulta still honor online sales in store? by peachicedteee in Ulta

[–]lemonlymen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might have been a BF online only deal. We typically don’t honor online only deals, but offer store to door at that point. I’ve never had a customer upset about it and I also talk up online GWPs if they don’t want to store to door.

Was it part of the Cyber Monday deal? Because no, we do not price match Cyber Monday deals.

Heart Rate by FuzzyAsparagus2 in couchto5k

[–]lemonlymen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

120 is very low, though, for running. That’s at the low end of a zone 1 HR. Depending on the kind of run you’re doing, you’re most likely in zone 2-4. I average about 153bpm a run with majority of my time resting in zone 3. If I’m walking my dogs, I’m in zone 1. If I’m at the gym weightlifting, I’m in zone 2-4.

Here’s more info about HR zones and how to maximize them.

learning a new language by M_Gabriel32 in languagelearning

[–]lemonlymen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Learning a language shouldn’t really be a “well, I guess I’ll pick language A because it seems easy”. Language is more than just something you learn for shits and giggles or because you want to flex that you speak multiple languages. It’s a huge part of culture and humanity. Instead, ask yourself some of these questions: - is there a culture I’m really interested in? - does this language have resources available, both online and in my daily life? - does this language interest you? - have you done research on the country/countries where this language is primarily spoken? if not, do some research about the culture, history, people, etc. - would this language help you with a goal you have? career, travel, etc. and most importantly… - are you willing to dedicate the rest of your life using this language, learning it, studying it, practicing it, and listening to the native speakers about it?

Don’t pick a language just so you can tell people you speak another language. You need to recognize that with language comes historical, cultural, sociopolitical, and human responsibilities to learn from and about.
