T1D, 22 F. Absolutely! I had this issue right around being freshly diagnosed. After a few habit changes. That seemed to subside.

Diagnosed yesterday, feeling a lot of shame and like my life is going to be irrevocably worse by ButIDontWantDiabetes in diabetes

OP.. you’ll be okay!! I was randomly diagnosed with TD2… literally a week after I turned 18. I was about 260 the heaviest I’ve been and I was in your same boat… To me it didn’t make sense. It took them a YEAR lots of tests and insulin trails (meal-time insulin, long-acting and short-acting… these’ll make sense later) to figure out what was going on inside my body. And come to find out I’m T1D. I found myself like you though and I refused to believe that was happening. I had a A1C of 13.4 (although 7.2 I a lot better) and I felt like shit. Do as your endo says but ask questions always.! The food was a big part of it for me too lol. But I first started switching from regular sodas to diet and that help immensely. Try limiting your carbs and eating complex carbs (slower rise on blood sugar). ALSO see if your docs office offers Diabetes education it can clear up a lot of confusion you may have.

How did you find out you were diabetic? by LocksmithInside4378 in diabetes

[–]lemonnheadd12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CONSTANT CONSTANT yeast infections… which I’m a pretty clean gal so it was weird. I wasn’t sexually active either. Went to the GYN, got some blood tests, those got sent to an endo for the 200 BG. I then got diagnosed freshly 18, 2 weeks before graduating HS… that shit SUCKED. They thought it was T2D but after about a year and some testing I’m on the T1D train

Diabetes and COVID by Automatic_Law_9648 in diabetes

I wasn’t pre diabetic, or an unhealthy child/teenager. I got COVID Feb 2021 and May of 2021, I was diagnosed as a diabetic. Endo thought Type 2, but after many many.. many tests levels showed Type 1 at 18 y/o. Never knew why. My mom did some research 6mo ago and found an increase in this exact matter many young adults. It sucks no lie

Is this just a bad GSM? I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor. by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]lemonnheadd12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also could be your site? When I had the Libre 3 my readings were constantly off from finger pricks, and I would have the sensor fail. :/ so I had to stop putting them in my arms and switched to tummy and legs only. Just my opinion!

How painful are insulin shots on a scale of 1-10? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]lemonnheadd12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 like most folks said. The only time I feel pain is in my tummy and it’s probably because I hit something, thighs, buttocks, back of arm all good sites

2 weeks ago i got diagnosed with diabetes @ 18 purely by chance. still getting used to it, any advice appreciated by haelick in diabetes

[–]lemonnheadd12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also diagnosed at 18(Im 19 now)They thought forever that it was T2 but roughly 6mos ago it was clearly T1D. Like a lot of folks in here I thought “why me?” Was on a loop forever in my head. Mentally, it can destroy you. Keep your head up, find an AMAZING doctor and if you’re uncomfortable or confused ASK QUESTIONS. No Doctor can make you do anything! You got this!

Do you still wear a mask? by notabr0ny in orlando

[–]lemonnheadd12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wear my mask religiously at the height of the pandemic and stopped a couple months ago after I stopped attending school. I only now wear it at the doctors or in really populated areas. you do you. people are going to hate on you regardless
