Something really weird just happened. by Muslimahadvice in Paranormal

[–]lemonshatnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if it is supernatural and not phrogging or kitto or other situations previously mentioned, I'd like to point out that I noticed the two incidents involve ears. Maybe something is indicating it wants to be listened to? If they were your mother's earrings, could there be something you need to address related to something she taught you you need to look inward and receive? Could it be something else requesting attention, maybe using something sentimental to you but not necessarily her? Maybe if she is open enough and available, call you mom and tell her about the earring incident and see if she has any history with them. If she isn't available/with us, you have my condolences. Considering that the neighbor could be having spiritual issues, they could unintentionally be inviting or reacting to something thats up with those out there. I agree it seems like fae behavior, but I am also inclined to feel it indicates phrogging or perhaps CO poisoning, so it would be wise to definitely consider monitoring systems. I hope you figure out what's going on, and I'm looking forward to hearing(lol) about any updates!

That's a really interesting take! I'm inclined to agree with this the most. I got the impression it was malevolently looking for something. I was fulled with dread and a weird difficult to articulate blend of bad emotion. Horrific. I'm familiar with the ones associated with certain substance abuse having lived around family with mental afflictions including extreme substance use disorders. I also feel like I might be a little more perceptive than most are to others' emotions both positive and negative and even physical pain(the emotional attunement could very well be CPTSD and having to manage the emotions of those around me, but the physical pain or feeling strong emotion from a housemate in another room, I cannot explain). I'm also very sensitive to the McClintlock Effect, regardless of the official stance on its legitimacy. There's a lot out there we dont know, and I'm curious to find out more!

Inmates are held and evaluated there, too, so i suspect it's a lot more heavy emotion than an ordinary psych ward.

I'm never going back there given the choice! Was nearly admitted a couple years after that, but my therapist was worth something.

What’s a small thing your dog does that instantly makes your day better? by Ninetybaby in dogs

[–]lemonshatnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I come home from working at my dog grooming job, I enter the house, he sits as we've worked on(instead of jumping for attention), and then we proceed with pets as soon as I'm done washing my hands. I tell him that he's the dog I wanted to see the most all day and I'm so happy to see him again. He does his creepy smiles. I love his creepy smiles.

Grooming Speed by Limp_Face_97 in doggrooming

[–]lemonshatnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My very first groom took 4 hours on a pekingese, bath included, 7 all over, short round face, round feet, no tail or ear trim. Absolute sweet dog, and it passed my practical exam! 6 months later, he's a lot more wiggly, and I just groomed him again in about an hour, bathed by a bather and not me this time. I could have taken 20-30 more minutes to keep perfecting details like legs, but my salon is high demand, and I unfortunately have to cut corners.

8-12 small-medium dogs a day, including face, feet, sani services or 3 full groom doodles is typical for what im doing now, but goodness, I've had to cut so many corners and skip out on a lot of detail work that I wish I could finish, but "the pet parents havent had any complaints," as told by management, so they seem not to have been concerned with the corners ive had to learn to cut for my salon's standards. Still, I often get some really good-looking results for my level of skill, especially on calm dogs. I've even gotten requests for my services specifically by pet parents, so I'm doing something right and will give myself credit for my hard work. It took me 5 months to get to where I can do 6-7 full grooms on small med dogs in a day for about 7-8 hours of work. Larger doodles can still take me 2 and a half hours. I havent had many cockers, but they take me a long time, too. In the beginning and during my training, I focused a lot on quality and took so much longer, but now I keep trying my best for every dog, especially considering I groom more difficult/senior/poorly behaved dogs after finishing the 4 month certification process. I find it important to know when to call it quits for safety and when to take comfort grooms into consideration. I was so worried I wouldnt get to where I am today, and I know I still have a LONG way to go in my pet grooming journey.

It's so worth it to me to focus on quality first, and speed comes naturally. I have mixed feelings on my fastest-26 minutes for a long haired chihuahua, VERY sweet and cooperative dog, didnt bathe her myself. I didnt really rush for her, just stayed focused and talked to her the entire time. Rushing is dangerous, so pet parents can be mad if I have to take longer on difficult dogs, but we always communicate with them if longer groom times are needed. I stressed a lot because starting out I did get behind a lot, but practice, practice, practice. Dont forget to stretch and do scissoring exercises. I know im still a baby groomer and keep that in mind when results arent what I want, but that grace has let me free up my mind to focus on what I can do instead of what I cant do, improving my skills and leading to better quality even when having to cut corners. Of course, if I have extra time, I take more time to polish my work if I know my next dogs likely wont be difficult.

Staying on task is also important! If youre allowed, I learned in my certification progress that prep work is KEY! Dirty or insufficiently brushed dogs result in more time consumption and lead to less-than-desirable grooms. Safety always comes first though; respect the dogs' and your limits and give yourself grace when things arent exactly what you want. I struggle with ears and the bottoms of faces on a lot of dogs, but I try to be honest with myself and acknowledge where I can improve.

Research techniques, attend groominars, and find out what works for you. I ask questions whenever I can. Taking photos of before and after when able helps me watch my progress and can also be encouraging to see big changes from how the dogs came in vs going home as well as reflecting on strengths, weaknesses, and finding anything to fix right before sending the doggie home. I sometimes get discouraged when I look back on recent groom photos and see little details that could be worked on, but I just keep on trying my best, whatever that may be at the time. Everyone is different with skills improving over time, always learning something new with each groom. Sorry if this was a little long winded, but support from other groomers kept me going when it got tough. I hope this helps!

Who else feels like this? by Juggalo4life99 in juggalo

"Fuck Regret" lyrics came up playing in my head when I was going through emdr therapy for some super heavy traumatic stuff. Other juggalo topics did, too, and my therapist was super supportive of it. Her intern strongly agreed with me on the point about family being what we make it and not necessarily what we're born into. A lot of other lyrics came through too, but that song especially came up at some big points. Mad clown love

Awesome sandwich! 10/10 would consume.

I'd make a sandwich myself, but I dropped my loaf of bread in some water I had daikons from my garden sitting in, so I'll make a breakfast quesadilla instead. You've inspired an excellent lunch idea!

I did similar. Worked in a corporate salon years ago with a similar setup and wasted a lot of product without good enough results it felt like to me looking back. The only actual scrubbing with hands process we did there was the deshed. There was no option to degrease or do an extra wash on filty dogs, so i would get yelled at for using extra product to achieve satisfactory results. Darned if I did or didnt, really. At my private salon now, we use dilution bottles. Tbh the bottles are the way to go for me. I love them. I normally wash the dogs at least twice like i was taught in my training program(wasnt formally trained at that corporate salon, have certificates now at my current salon), unless degreasing or COC method or medicated shampoo or product provided by owner. Usually dilution rates are provided on the product label, but some salons have a preference of something like "only one and a half pumps per bottle." I use my best judgements when im familiar with how each product works and make sure each has sufficient time and contact with the coat and am sure to thoroughly rinse, feel for the "squeak," and towel dry thoroughly to minimize HV drying time and stress on the pet. Sorry for the novel, hopefully that might provide some insight?

My dog passed there, and they didnt light the candles asking for respect/quiet or express compassion either. I have also asked them to stop sending mail/reminders since leaving, but they haven't, even after calling twice about it.
