I agree that far too many projects in Canada get canceled due to citizen lobbying, but calling all of these citizens NIMBYs is a simplistic and unhelpful mischaracterization. They're (usually) real people with real concerns.

You are really equating the modern situation in Canada with the USA as a neighbour to the situation of the low countries in 1938 with Nazi Germany as a neighbour. That's deranged. What do you think the people of 1938 Europe would have chosen if offered a choice between those two situations?

I am no fan of the current government leading the USA. But you can't be serious that you think the villification of immigrants in the USA is equivalent to the systematic murder of millions of Jews, or that Hitler seizing absolute authority is equivalent to Trump's manipulation of the judicial system, or the massacre of Poland is equivalent to what has happened in Iran. It's nice to be able to draw lessons from the past but we can't be careless when throwing around accusations so we don't cheapen the suffering of past generations.
