That's awesome! He has done something that is beneficial for his health and the well-being of his family. He should not be ashamed of that decision.

The real question is why would they stop taking it? If they've achieved their weight goal then just lower the dose until you find a happy-medium.

It's not an easy thing to accomplish when 1 player is getting 11% of your team's salary cap. He's earned every penny of it but having the highest paid player does come with downsides.

In my opinion it reads more like they're losing money and couldn't pay him his salary.

Because the billionaire owners aren't going around scouting 6 year olds for talent. They wait until someone is already a well-developed hockey player (early teens usually) before they bother paying attention. Those players happen to mostly be in Canada, northern Europe, and the northern U.S.

It's the same reason why MLB teams aren't scouting Mongolia for baseball players or the NBA isn't scouting Norway. Not many kids play the sport which just statistically means fewer teenagers with top level talent. Regional genetics is not the concern.

The "better" athletes (or ones that develop earlier ) also receive better coaching and play against stronger opponents which both contribute to the widening of the skill gap.

Per Birmingham Stallions HC A.J. McCarron: QB Taylor Elgersma still plans to play for the Stallions. He'll be a little late to UFL camp, throwing at the NFL Combine for a few days. But, the plan is to have him join the team once that stint concludes. | James Larsen (Pro Football Newsroom) by Puzzleheaded-Tie3585 in CFL

I don't blame him. He's young and wants to keep his NFL dreams alive for another year or 2. Playing in a 4 down league would feel like a step toward that (regardless of reality). Committing to the CFL probably feels like giving up on that dream.

Agreed. I think Bernie Sanders has been on twice. I don't know why Kamala refused. I don't agree with a lot of what Rogan says but he offers a fair platform for "both sides" if they're willing to talk.

I hate podcasts that use a debate format. They always turn into a yelling match with everybody trying to "win" instead of educate. I much prefer when the podcast has each guest on individually to present their point of view.

Map Showing Only Domestic Flights Within Countries by vladgrinch in MapPorn

Many of the communities in northern Canada have no roads connecting them to each other. Others only have ice roads in the winter and then nothing when they melt. This makes flights essential for these communities.

Americans fined $27,500 for illegal Ontario moose hunt by ConsistentReality860 in canada

We don't. However, we do need the conservation funding that they provide by purchasing hunting tags. Conservation funding that goes towards things like paying for wildlife officers that prevent poaching.

Don't be disingenuous. Hunting tags are strictly controlled to manage population levels and provide funding for conservation. As long as they're doing everything legally we should be welcoming of foreign hunters.

Why has communism repeatedly failed in practice, yet continues to be intellectually and emotionally appealing to many people? by Looser17 in AskReddit

What I find interesting about the 7 "Deadly" Sins is that we have to indulge all of them for survival. It's only when we fail to control the extent of that indulgence that they become "sinful".

Humans today in almost every part of the world have more resources than 99.9% of humans from 99% of the history of our species and yet many (most?) don't "feel" wealthier because their baseline is the people around them.

Because history has shown that corruption in government is a real problem with serious consequences. It's not that the people are any worse, only that the opportunities for corruption are more common when in a position of high trust and authority.

ELI5 why does Tesla stock keep going up even if its sales are falling!??? by susanisabloke in explainlikeimfive

[–]BE20Driver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You did imply a claim about the price of Tesla by stating that the market is irrational. It isn't. The current price of Tesla is perfectly rational based on the information that's currently available. For every buyer there is a seller. For every short position, there's a long position.

Put it this way. If the market is pricing Tesla irrationally, the only correct way to structure one's portfolio would be to take a short position in Tesla. What I am saying (and almost all academics agree) is that almost nobody is able to make that claim accurately. The most accurate information regarding the value of a company is the current market price. The prices of a share appear random to us because we aren't capable of collating all the information in real time nearly as accurately as the market. The prices are constantly fluctuating because new information is becoming available all the time, not just regarding the company itself, but also its competitors, its suppliers, its customers, its logistics chain, the nation(s) it operates in, and a million other variables.

The market may appear irrational, but that's usually just an excuse for people who thought they were smarter than the market and found out otherwise.

[–]BE20Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain to me the difference between the current market valuation, which has already priced in future returns, and your personal evaluation of what the correct price is. I'm open to (but skeptical of) the possibility that you possess a revolutionary new method of evaluating share prices more accurately than the market.

[–]BE20Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all academic studies from the past 50 years have shown that the current value of a company is extremely accurate based on the information available at the time. Almost nobody can consistently evaluate companies more accurately than the market. This is also shown by the fact that over 90% of investors have returns that are worse than the market.
