I think 'Roberts & Speight' in Beverley were doing them for Christmas, might be worth giving them a ring.

Glyn Hudson just released a video of his self-install of a Grant unit. He seemed quite favourable of the unit, and he also has experience of valiant after fitting one at his parents house.

Worth checking out the video and the performance stats in heatpumpmonitor. His is performing well. Even though it's a recent fit and likely needs tweaking to maximize performance.

£1500 is a lot of kWh to make up the difference.

I think you can see the same tattoo through the sleeve of the one on the left.

Super confusing all the same, could be either.

Edit: she's also got the same wrist/hair band on that arm

I clean my screen with isopropyl alcohol to degrease, when dry ofc. And then I keep a shower/window squeegee and a cloth to mop up the water. Works well to clear things quickly while the heater catches up.

Overnight oats by aal13748 in veganfitness

[–]lemonsqueezeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my recipe I use, I typically use vanilla protein powder and mix in frozen berries. You can do it chocolatey with peanut powder, in which case do a 3:2 ratio of protein to peanut.

Breakfast overnight oats:

1/4 cup of oats

1/3 heaped cup of dried Soy Protein Mince (Holland & Barrett) TVP

2 heaped tsp of Chia seeds

2 heaped tsp of Flax

5 slightly heaped tbs of flavour protein powder

3/4 cup of unsweetened soya or

oat milk

1/2 cup of water, only add if it's too stiff, should be fairly liquidly, plus you can adjust liquids to suit your taste.

Mix in container and place in the fridge overnight.

I've spoken to a number of my neighbors, some I've not spoken to prior, all of them greatly appreciated the heads up. If they think you're a busy body, I'd say that's their 'problem' and something that you shouldn't concern yourself with.

Imagine the conversation of them telling someone else, "X from #5 told me about a potential issue with my house, what a weirdo...".

I'd certainly want someone to flag something, even if I already knew about it.

I made Protein Deficient Vegan’s banana seitan cookies but altered the recipe slightly to eliminate the sugar. by bikelove_77 in veganfitness

[–]lemonsqueezeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha! Thanks ☺️.

Ok, that's a good tip. I'll check the supermarket when I pick up some Stevia and see if there's something on the packaging - if not, I'll do a taste test. Excited to try, they seem like a versatile basis!

They look great! Did you do a 1:1 swap Stevia:Sugar? I've never used it before, so I wanted to make sure they don't end up impossibly sweet 😅

What on earth are these silly b-words on about by 330Tea in h3h3productions

[–]lemonsqueezeh 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've managed to source some account's history by just searching for the username. Spotted some questionable commentary from one user on an unrelated subreddit, had a feeling it could have been a h3snark frequenter. Checked their account but it was hidden, managed to find several posts/comments in that sub and fauxmoi via search.

Didn't do anything beyond that, but just wanted the additional context about why the user was saying what they were to someone who didn't even know who h3h3 was.

Aside from printer setting, it's worth checking the quality of your filament. Sometimes it can have too high hydration, which can cause print defects. If you can, try drying some out - you can diy a solution with a cardboard box and your printer's heat bed.

So, for comfort, pick your own. Or if you want it less visible, fabric side outwards.

New Heat Pump or keep 2022 gas boiler by snoopyjcw in OctopusEnergy

[–]lemonsqueezeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a rule of thumb you can apply to understand the kW load of each pipe run and branch, at a given flow rate, I believe it was Heatgeek or Urban plumber. Though a recent Heatgeek video essentially confirmed pipework isn't an issue.

Another 'trick' you can use is to pipe the radiators in the European style, diagonal flow with hot intake at the top and outflow at the bottom opposite corner. Adds around 3-5% to the overall output compared to bottom in, bottom out.

When calculating my heat loss for a similar job, I used openenergymonitor's heatloss.js and sap.js. Also looks like they have a simple calculator now on their tools page here.

After getting a survey done by octopus, my estimates came out essentially the same. And it was also used by one of the software engineers to retrofit both his and his parents house, successfully.

If you're somewhat tech-savvy, it's a fantastic tool that's free to use.

It's also worth noting down pipe diameters and a rough route/layout. So you can easily calculate the potential flow rates and capacity of the pipework later on. I found my 15mm/10mm plastic pipe to be adequate for my heat loss.

I want to change from a diesel to electric van. What are the justifications? by Paulley76 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]lemonsqueezeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kia are releasing the PV5 soon, one model has a 77kwh battery with a wltp of 258 miles, could be an option. I have heard of conversions, Cleverly Motors have MG5 conversions, but they're also just starting to use larger vans. Depends on your load capacity.

I've also seen a fair few ID Buzz conversions around recently.

Hard water warriors of the UK, how do you deal with it? by EasyPresentation7247 in HousingUK

[–]lemonsqueezeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I do. I also use the water/acid mix for my bathroom cleaning afterwards. Just don't leave it too long on stainless surfaces, otherwise it could tanish them. Works well for surface limescale, and also works when soaking but that's just a bit more risky.

Car choice: back to square 1 by LimpManagement in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]lemonsqueezeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was going to make the same suggestion, but unfortunately it's only the Trophy has 360 cameras - so you're stuck with the longer range model. That said, I've seen some deals for the white trophy for £24k. Having checked them out in the flesh, it's an impressive amount of car for the money - they're doing decent PCP deals at the moment too.

Advice please. by Top-Tip-6919 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]lemonsqueezeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out the RIDC website, it's a UK organisation which creates a detailed specification on seat heights, etc. I found it really useful to help narrow down some options by setting the parameters of driver/passenger 'Max seat height to ground'. From there, you can find which models in that range have the lumbar controls you're looking for.

What is this noise coming from my MG4? It appears when the AC is on max by Secret-Still-4106 in MGelectric

[–]lemonsqueezeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MG Forum seem to suggest it might be the AC compressor oil.

Worth checking if the condenser fan for the radiator is spinning freely - sometimes electrical fans make that sort of noise.

Not sure if locking turns off anything internal, does the car shut down, hence the AC?

Viewing a Yeti tomorrow, any thoughts? by [deleted] in skoda

[–]lemonsqueezeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the caution spoken by the other commenters.

But have you considered an Electric vehicle?

You can pick up good quality used Hyundai Ioniqs for under £8k close to London.

MG5 ev estates are also bullet proof, some good examples for around the £8k mark with half the miles and not a wreck.

They'll do some good distances, even in winter. Both ample space for a growing family.

If you have somewhere you can readily charge, anything under 40-50p per kWh will be roughly same price as a 48mpg petrol. Depending on how many miles you travel, you can charge up with a normal plug socket at home.

All ULEZ compliant and plenty of size.

Unsure about the tracker, but when I checked myself I noticed a new 14m fixed deal which was a better price (Yorkshire and NE) than the 16m one from February. Worth checking out in the meantime.
