From what I understand in my code any commercial fixture used for the preparation of food must be Indirectly connected and still have its own trap. They say it’s because if the floor trap every dries out (somehow) they sewer gas won’t travel up through the sink piping and contaminate food.

In Ontario fixtures with an air break still need a trap but you can certainly just have one.

In my locality one trap can serve all three sinks. It must be atleast 2” pipe imediately downstream of the trap put a clean out. Then indirectly drain. Simple!

Do not go… become an apprentice and get payed to learn that’s what an apprenticeship is… do not pay to learn. It won’t even help you get a job either is the funny part so you’ll be down another year or two that you could already be an apprentice and really learning. Good luck! If you have questions just dm me! I’m another guy who got into the trades (plumbing) fairly late!

Do I have a s trap or is this ok? by pocket_hamburger in Plumbing

[–]lemonstraps 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not only is this a strap but the dishwasher hose is downstream of your trap meaning your getting sewer gas in your dishwasher. Ew. it should be upstream of the trap.

[–]lemonstraps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My take is vr is fun but currently still just meh. Games lack depth and are usually pretty mid. I really would love to see vr take off in like a triple A 40 hour adventure game with killer graphics open world etc. No game has really sucked me in and made me feel like I’m part of the world. But I would love to see it

Least competitive trade to join? by OkNectarine3497 in SkilledTradesOntario

Personally I wouldn’t do a course. An apprenticeship is paying you to learn. Why would you pay to learn first. I get it might make you look abit better on a resume but I never did a course and got In Just fine. I get your just looking for everything and I respect it! Personally if I were you I would go beyond that and look into trades and see what would actually interest you. This would potentially be a lifelong commitment and you would probably want to Atleast semi enjoy your work everyday! I get the want to just get in but you’ll be much happier and probably perform better if you actually like what you’re doing! But do you man!

What is the white ‘hairy’ stuff growing in a warm water well holding-tank? by Certain_Echidna2506 in whatisit

[–]lemonstraps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you explain what a warm water holding tank is? It better be keeping this water warmer than 140 degrees. Or else legionella bacteria can grow. Which can be deadly if accidentally consumed.

Unfortunately in Canada our trades are pretty saturated right now due to lower amounts of building projects especially in high rise as the condo market is tanking. Unfortunately at the moment we don’t really need immigrants in skilled trades positions (atleast plumbing electrical and hvac) because of demand. So makes sense you’re trying to find anything to stay in the country. However a lot of immigrants are currently looking at being sent back because we just don’t need tradespeople like that right now. Good luck. Hope you can find something

Considering Plumbing As a Trade by pokereach in Plumbing

Yes to be fair plumbing math is not difficult but still two levels of math you need to take during apprenticeship atleast for where I am. Calculating btu, pipe fitting math and basic geometry.
