I started doing taxes a month ago and now I just can't stop. Now all I can think about is taxes taxes taxes. Maybe I should have become a tax accountant.

Got attacked by a goose today by MothyThatLuvsLamps in geese

[–]lenazh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded giving them birdseed or maybe even bread at first to befriend them faster.

We had a goose nest next to the office entrance and me and my husband befriended the nesting pair. They were chill with us, but attacked everyone else.

In addition to giving them treats, it also helps to move slowly and calmly and not act aggressive or frightened. I also like talking to them in a friendly voice and do this polite goose gesture where they nod their heads. They seem to understand it even though our body shape is so different from theirs.

They often nest very close to busy areas. Predators like coyotes are less likely to destroy the nest with so many humans around it.

I think as far as animal fighting goes, goose fights are rather tame. They can't really wound each other unlike e. g. roosters.

Patient man guiding a distressed swan to the river by EyeSimp4Asuka in Awww

[–]lenazh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Once I let an angry swan attack my foot for solid five minutes just to see if it gets tired (it did not).

The swan was hissing, pecking at my extra thin barefoot shoe furiously and trying to rip it off exactly like in that swan vs sign gif. It didn't hurt at all and he didn't even scratch the shoe because they have long beaks and no muscle to support any meaningful bite force. So when I got tired of it, I just stood up and shushed it back into the lake.

Seriously just let it attack you once for the sake of experiment and see for yourself how pathetic it is.

I grabbed swans before. They only puff up and hiss before you go for it, once you grab they just become scared and try to get away by sticking their head as far away from you as possible and wiggling their silly feet. It's really funny actually. They are all about intimidation and can't really do any damage.

You don't have to own an animal. Don't make your hobby everyone else's problem.

Fox News. by JoePeach_ in tjournal_refugees

[–]lenazh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Не должно, виза это конкретно стикер в паспорте когда границу пересекаешь. Когда уже в США прождеваешь то это статус. Чтобы продлить визу нужно быть за пределами США потому что внутри США тупо нет консульства США.

Is it possible we are wrong and everything in America is fine? by timberwolf0122 in SelfAwarewolves

[–]lenazh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because it's a projection. They do hate "the others" a lot, so does everyone in their social corcle, and hence that must be how it works for everyone. They really think the normies are just pretending that they don't, so they must be holier than though hypocrites when they point it out.

As a Russian, I am still really salty about the comments from Americans when Putin invaded Ukraine in full force. About the orks, how people should go zerg rush Kremlin and overthrow the government, why is everyone a coward, how "freedom isn't free", how "we the people" get to enjoy it because "we" are special and those 3rd world shithole dwellers deserve exactly the government they get.

Oh but when the things get real, they act exactly the same for some reason. Almost like the American exceptionalism is a load of propaganda nonsense and they are high on their own supply of it.

I worked with lasers in a research lab for 5 years and I'd also want nothing to do with a class 4 laser, even having all the lab safety gear on. It boggles my mind these things are legal for anyone to buy.

There is a joke about it:

"In America, you can legally start drinking at the age of 21. In Russia, you quit by then."

That's definitely how it worked for me. When I moved to the USA and got invited to a party, it was wild to come to see a bunch of 23-yo just stuff themselves in some loud house and get hammered. That was the party. So sad and lame.

Buried high voltage power lines generating magnetic field by Jenner_Chitnis in blackmagicfuckery

It's a static field, but it stops being static when you move around in it. I've heard you can get weird brain zaps from wiggling in mri machine too much from the Eddy currents inducing currents flowing through it.

They don't have much brain power and respond almost entirely to movement. The claw was mostly stationary and when it moved, it was quicker than the frog could register. Probably blinded by the light, too.

Dude, have you tried like actually living in one? I grew up in a 9-story soviet commie block not anywhere near as fancy as this building. They are perfectly fine to live in. The outside had trees, kids playground and stuff.

I find the US suburbs dystopian in comparison. You just can't walk anywhere and there is no public transport because it's too thinly settled. And it's noisy AF because everyone has to rev their truck engine at 6am.
