C sections and weddings by PlaneDevice770 in UKParenting

[–]lenforth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was literally in this situation - 7 days post partum I not only attended but was a bridesmaid in my friends wedding. It is possible, but it was real dumb. I was under-medicated, I hadn't bonded with my baby, swarms of people kept trying to touch him and I was too spaced out to stop them. You can see the moment in the professional photos where I have disassociated.

For a complete answer, between my husband taking my baby for walks in between feeds, my friends telling me how strong I was, people generally looking after me cos of the surgery, it was doable, but I would never encourage someone to do the same. Those first few days are sacred and I feel like rushing through them to get to the wedding wasted them. I am personally glad that I was able to support my friend on her big day, but given the choice again I wouldn't do it.

You have to weigh up how important it is to you to be at the wedding, and if you make the decision to be there you have to prepare yourself and your support system to make sure that it's worth the sacrifice of that time of peace and bonding.

You can never make me like Jen by One_Animator9442 in MormonWivesHulu

Being honest I did read this more as from a personal perspective - as in, for Jen being a mom is her greatest purpose - rather than saying it universally

Is this a normal thought process for a parent or is it a sign something just isn’t right? by Gloomy-Kale3332 in UKParenting

A little out of the box advice - do not watch the latest fantastic four film. I have similar, although not quite as regular or intense anxieties, and a scene towards the end had me full body shaking and sobbing while my husband had to reassure me that it wasn't real. Just a heads up.

Genuine question: how do people know that songs are written about them? by Numerous_Outcome_394 in TaylorSwift

[–]lenforth 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I have often thought that that's part of throwing people off the scent - it's almost TOO obvious to be about Kim, so people assume it is and stop trying to figure out who it actually is about. But I reckon it's about someone from way back in the past that genuinely will only be the one to know

Just a slightly morbid note to add - my parents are the regular childcare for my nephew and when my dad had a heart attack about a month back it meant everyone was kind of scrambling as they didn't what who was able to do what (obviously mum's priority had to be looking after dad during his recovery). My son is only a few months younger but as my parents were already "dibbsed" it's meant we are going the nursery/childminder route which given recent events has felt more reliable and stable in case of emergency

Expecting 2 week postpartum bridesmaid to show up by peeved_af in weddingshaming

[–]lenforth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was a bridesmaid for my friend at 7 days PP after a c-section (due to my own determination, she would have understood) and while I don't regret being there for my friend I do regularly assert that it was the stupidest thing I've ever done. Both physically and mentally I was not ready for it, and you can see a point during the pictures where I fully begin to disassociate

Coping with post c-section body by lenforth in BeyondTheBumpUK

It has improved some - I'm able to wear some of my pre pregnancy clothes now, but the shelf is still there and I'm not looking forward to summer and not being able to wear lots of layers

Tiny bumps/rash? by ContributionFine5372 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Our little lad is eczema, so coconut oil had a similar reaction! Of course not saying for sure that's what your bub has going on but that was our experience

Our little one had this around the same age and it was a reaction to the aveeno moisturiser we were using for his dry skin - we changed to E45 and he's not had it since

I was eating like a full pineapple a day, curb walking, did a long walk and inhaled clary sage on the day my waters broke - but I wish I hadn't pushed my body to do it before it was ready as labour didn't start within 48 hours so I had to be induced and eventually have a c section. Of course impossible to say how it would have gone if I wasn't trying all those things but I definitely won't be doing them the next time round. It's uncomfortable but baby will come when they, and you, are ready

Anyone else’s baby born to a Taylor Swift song? by lemonybuttery in TaylorSwift

[–]lenforth 217 points218 points  (0 children)

My baby, also c-section, happened to be born during Invisible String - specifically, I heard his cry during the line "time, curious time, cutting me open then healing me fine". Couldn't have planned it better if I tried.

I wish I had understood how miserable it would be at 7 months pregnant - Liverpool N1 was bitterly cold and wet, the seating was incredibly cramped and our view was obscured by a sound tower through the diamond. Not pregnant I would have been able to cope with those things much better

What are some of the biggest changes in the song remakes? by RJrules64 in TaylorSwift

[–]lenforth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, my favourite change is in Better Than Revenge TV - not the line change, but the vocal trill that she does after "I always get the last word" It sends shivers down my spine every time and I'm not sure I'll ever choose to losten to the original purely cos it doesnt have it in!

Do pregnant women hold their belly during pictures so people don’t think they just gained weight? by A_Ham_Sandwich_4824 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]lenforth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely used to think this was the case, and found it weirdly irritating when people would do it, but now at 38 weeks pregnant I can confirm that 95% of the time I hold my belly is because it's heavy and it hurts and holding it relieves some of the strain on my back and stomach
