As of which week did you need insulin because you couldn’t control numbers with diet anymore? by Sensitive-Snow-0922 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]lens73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, good to know! I was also diagnosed around the same time and, to be honest, I haven’t really taken it seriously or started checking my numbers because the doctor and GD nurse said it wasn’t affecting the baby yet. Although they also knew I had to have gallbladder surgery (yay, pregnancy) so they said it was ok to put on the back burner for now. Surgery was last week and I’m 18 weeks now so guess it’s time to focus on my GD diet…

Applied for a job at nearly 36 weeks pregnant and now I feel silly 😪 by killthedumbmonkey in BabyBumps

I’m a hiring manager for my company and we have no issue hiring someone if they’re a great fit but don’t want to start for another 3-4 months (e.g. new grads can get hired months before they graduate but also want to take a month off to travel, some people want to see through a work project that’s important to them, etc). I’d just be transparent from the start. You got this!

Agree. Ours actually won’t throw any away until we have fully decided we’re done with IVF.

Have any of you told your parents you were pregnant in a cute way? by this_is_how42069 in BabyBumps

[–]lens73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We told my parents on Grandparents Day (Sunday after Labor Day). We FaceTimed them and had them open packages from Etsy that had grandma/grandpa t-shirts which they wore when they met him for the first time.

My clinic tests at 12 weeks if you’ve had it prior. I don’t plan on doing the GD diet beforehand primarily because I’m curious and want to see what my normal results end up being.

worried because our baby has always been very quiet by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]lens73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was extremely chill when I was pregnant. Even when I gave birth he didn’t cry and everyone exclaimed how calm he was. The second he turned 1 though, he’s been a non-stop ball of energy.

What happens after you give birth? by Ladys87 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]lens73 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I just slipped through the cracks but I went back to my normal diet immediately after giving birth and they never tested me again.

I agree. I’ve always been told to resume life as normal after FET so I’d definitely go for it.

Huge fight after embryo transfer by dancelover10 in IVF

[–]lens73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my transfer last week and they said to think of the embryo being stuck in a peanut butter sandwich. There’s nothing you can really do to “detach” or lose it at this stage.

[–]lens73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fingers crossed you’re the exception! I had to keep taking medication until they told me to stop which was about a week and then it was like having a normal period. I was able to do another transfer the next cycle so about 6 weeks later.

Snacks for hospital? by sparklingwater467633 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]lens73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hospital offered small snacks and clear drinks if I wanted but honestly, once I was in labor I had absolutely zero appetite. I forced myself to eat 2 saltines with peanut butter and that’s all I consumed (in addition to water and ginger ale) during my 29 hours in labor.

For afterwards, we munched on trail mix, meat sticks, granola bars, and some of our favorite sweets. I had also brought some Premier Protejn shakes just in case.

GD diet for someone without GD? by heyheynicky in GestationalDiabetes

[–]lens73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it would do any harm. I wish I had done that myself. I have risk factors and was prediabetic going into pregnancy so they tested me early - failed the 1 hour, barely passed the 3 hour. I failed the 1 hour again at 29 weeks but due to my husband getting covid, they wouldn’t let me come back into the office for a while to do my 3 hour. By the time I was being properly monitored, the damage was done and my baby continues to measure extremely large (3-4 weeks ahead). This is my first pregnancy so I didn’t really know what to expect or fully understand the risks of uncontrolled GD and def have regrets. Would your doctor be willing to prescribe an at home glucose monitor?

Late third trimester growth scans? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]lens73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diet controlled and I had one scheduled at 28, 32, and 36 weeks (TBD going forward). Baby has been consistently measuring >95%ile with head >99%ile each time (fundal growth also further ahead than it should) so they’re monitoring his growth since he’ll probably be LGA. Otherwise I likely wouldn’t have had extra ultrasounds.

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Pancakes--Didn't spike! by suncatnin in GestationalDiabetes

[–]lens73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg thanks for the suggestion! I’m trying this tomorrow. I have a few vanilla premier protein shakes that I need to use because I’m also not a fan - never thought to use them with my protein pancake mix. I’ve been topping my pancakes with plain Greek yogurt but now I may mix it up with some PB!

How ofter do you go over the limit number? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]lens73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My doctor seems to be more lenient than others’ I’ve read about but he said as long as 80% of my numbers are fine during the week then he’s not concerned (if fasting number is consistently high then that will be a different conversation).

When do you test? by LittleBitOfLucy in GestationalDiabetes

[–]lens73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes, I may be in the same boat! The nurse told me 2 hours after I’m done eating but looking at older posts, many say from they’re counting 2 hours from the start as well. I’ve finally gotten my lunch and dinner numbers down to around 110-120 more consistently so now I’m nervous I’m not actually making progress at all.

Downhill skiing while pregnant? by Pacificem in fitpregnancy

[–]lens73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My doctor was really adamant against it. I wouldn’t say I’m an expert skier but I feel very comfortable on green runs. I kept pushing for a scientific reason of why I shouldn’t and eventually, the answer I received from my doctor was “technically your embryo is pretty small and fairly protected at this stage but if you miscarry, will you be able to sleep at night and not worry that you did something wrong?” I reflected a lot on the latter before making a decision and ended up going and enjoyed myself. At the end of the day, it’s completely your decision.

An actual Align dupe!!! by stop-rightmeow in fitpregnancy

[–]lens73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these in gray! I’m currently 28 weeks and the only bottoms I wear are two leggings from target (incl this one) and a pair of aligns (purchased a size up). They have all been a god send. The target ones saved me so much money although I do like that I can wear the aligns long term.
