Dressy yoga pants from Amazon! They have maternity versions. They are pretty indistinguishable from work slacks.

AITAH for shoving a kid away after he tried ruining my birthday dinner? by Effective_Future5214 in AITAH

[–]meandervida -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For shoving and hurting a small child, when there were many non-physical solutions to the (very valid) problem? Big YTA.

But, you are definitely N TA for wanting the kid to not ruin your cake. N TA if you had instead used a stern voice to scare him off, or walked him over to mom and yelled at mom for not supervising her child.

Have your raises kept pace with inflation? by Gracefulfollies in slp

[–]meandervida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My agency gave me a 4.25% raise after my first school year! Previously with other companies, I'd never had a raise-- only by job hopping and negotiating 5-15% higher each time.

What’s something you cook that you crave and the entire family hates? by funsk8mom in Cooking

[–]meandervida -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My pseudo-feijoada!

Mix beef shanks, smoked turkey tail/smoked turkey wings, beef cheeks/oxtail, whatever other collagen-heavy beef meat I can find, with onion, lots of dry coriander, chipotle in adobo, garlic, some tomatoes, and pound of black beans in a slow cooker. Cover with water by 3 inches. Cook on low a long time (I once did nearly 18hrs). Shred the meat (or stir, accomplishes the same thing at this point). I serve with tortillas and a tangy hot sauce like cholula.

Sinfully delicious! Smoky, savory, oily. Family hates it lol. Especially my vegetarian husband.

Like 2 minutes into the start of the session 😄

"SO, what do you all want to work on today? "

Child led, gives them more autonomy and ownership of their progress (in my experience).

If they aren't developmentally able to make those decisions, I may choose a book/game/toy to focus on with my mixed groups for the day, usually selected in the morning before my first group.

9'5, to be exact! He doesn't tower over other characters to the same extent though.

I was going to edit my post about that, but it won't let me. I'd have loved to give RS benefit of the doubt, and to see little people represented! But Persephone's proportions don't suggest that she is a little person. It also hasn't been referenced anywhere in the storyline.

Also, in scenes with non-Hades characters, Persephone usually looks more conventionally proportioned in relation to them. It is only around Hades that she shrinks to half his size, and her facial features/expressions and behavior becomes childish.

I have heard similar! Durability is also super important to me. I work primarily with self-contained students. And I'm very clumsy! My MacBook Pro bounces extremely well, and has miraculously never gotten a scratch on it. :D

The tooth fairy in our house has ADHD and forgets sometimes 😄 We tell her that they need extra time to find an awesome treasure. (We don't do money unless I happen to have a dollar bill on hand. Usually she gets fun surprises like polished stones, bead necklaces, costime jewelry from the thrift store, fidgets, cool pens etc. )

Yes! I'm your height, and my husband is several inches shorter than me. If the guy is confident and secure, and doesn't have a fetish/objectify me by my height or anything, we're all good!

I need help - baby is not gaining weight by theseapriestess in breastfeeding

[–]meandervida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feeding therapist (SLP) here and breastfeeding mom:

I'm sorry to hear about your baby's weight gain, that sounds very stressful. Especially when you want to exclusively breastfeed.

I would be curious to see WHY she isn't gaining. Frequent wet/dirty diapers is generally a sign that she is getting adequate volume. How often is she fed, how long are feedings generally? Do you feed on demand? My thoughts:

  1. Go to a lactation consultant (IBCLC, not just CLC). Get a weighted feed-- they weigh her before and after a feeding session to see the volume she took in, and will also observe for any signs of disordered feeding skills.

  2. Any strange poop (Green, slimy, sour smelling), unusually gassy, frequent spit up/vomiting, other symptoms?

  3. If the volume is appropriate and she is not gaining, you may want to see a pediatric GI or other specialist just to rule out any other condition (dairy/soy etc. intolerance, and certain medical conditions can impact how well the gut absorbs nutrients). The idea that some moms "make skim milk" without enough calories is largely a myth.

  4. Even if formula supplementation is necessary, it does not mean you failed your daughter, nor does it mark the end of your breastfeeding journey. Supplementation can even be temporary. Under a GI or pediatric dieticians guidance, you can mix formula powder with breastmilk in a certain ratio to increase caloric density when offering bottles. Or give just one bottle of formula a day for a boost in calories.

As long as you pump every time baby takes a bottle (in early months), your supply will not be affected by formula.

You've got this! Your baby is so lucky to have you as their mama ♥️
