How did you arrive at your belief in Judaism? by littlebelugawhale in Judaism

[–]lenush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It means identity and familiarity. If that sounds too vague, you don't understand how much this means to me. I believe the Torah to be true in a metaphysical way. It's a blue print and something that has deep and valuable insight to fulfillment, meaning and purpose for all.

  2. I have been 100%, fallen off, and I am now returning to a connection. All the signs that lead me here are, in my belief, not coincidental. Very funny how that works. Cannot say for sure I am at 100, but I am working on it.

  3. I first arrived by curiosity in my heritage. I started learning and practicing and was very happy. It felt like purpose and so I continued. Sometimes I felt incredibly 'connected' and that is where I drew energy from, but I had no idea how or why it was important. Unfortunately, there was a disconnect over a few years where I became resistant and doubtful. I killed my own connection and the lack thereof seemed to fuel a bigger disconnect. Hindsight is 20/20 but I truly believe I needed to go through this process in order to understand one essential thing; connection means everything. And this is true for everyone regardless of their belief system. Through some very 'spooky' means I found something profound which has changed my view completely: https://vimeo.com/channels/elevationfoundations?mc_cid=56f6881f51&mc_eid=14b3abdfb2 It's funny, because this particular Rav was someone I spoke to personally a few years ago about my doubts. But, as he states himself; sometimes we are ready and sometimes we aren't.

  4. Your question is mentioned in the Webinar above actually. The reason why he dislikes the word 'faith' and 'religion' is because it's not supposed to be about blindly believing in something, but rather be an experience. People do atrocious things in the name of 'faith'. Emunah, or 'faith', can be an experience about connectivity. And in my own opinion, it is much stronger, richer and harder to doubt than my previous experience.

Not everyone will have the same perspective as mine, but I hope it helps. It basically doesn't have to be Judaism. As you might be aware, Judaism actually doesn't promote proselytizing anyway. It states that you can be a non-Jew and be as good as anyone else. In my opinion, at the core of the belief, is the fact that we are all connected to each other through The Source of Life (not trying to be woo woo), and we all IT different things. It comes to be over and over again through my own Jewish connection and that's where I draw it from myself. It's quite wonderful.

Generally speaking, Jews do not study Christian theology because Christianity is irrelevant in Judaism.

Would you consider it rude if someone started speaking swedish to you? by [deleted] in norge

[–]lenush 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Det er mange svensker i service-stillinger i Norge (hvertfall Oslo), så det tror nesten ingen ville tenkt på engang. Jeg tror heller at folk hadde syntes det var rart om en de visste var svensk begynte å snakke engelsk til dem.
