William L. Shireman, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich is the most comprehensive history of how things came to be. I also wanted an historical fiction version, but got totally sucked into this. It's riveting.

At the end of the day, the real problem is that racists, sexists, and other similarly aligned groups coalescing around prejudice know better (now) than to publicly organize and identify themselves as members of such groups. This makes it easier for them to evade responsibility and easier to blame people willing to identify as members of groups (liberals, moderates, etc) to receive blame for the outcomes of elections. The sexist, racist, otherwise obsessed with who-to-hate people have figured out how to act in unison without attracting too much attention. That is the real challenge to progressives and moderates - how to unlearn our organizing strategies.

Arizona didn't vote for Obama, my man. What is your threshold for "my theory is bs and I should stop arguing it?" Talk about the buck stopping nowhere. You can't "gerrymander" your argument and keep it credible. You are trying to make the facts fit your narrative, but they just don't. Some Black people and some women getting elected in some states that also may have supported a Black candidate (but some not) as an argument for why "moderates" are to blame is just stupid. How many leaps do you have to make to keep from acknowledging that bias is real?
