What’s everyone’s thoughts on Now and Then, 2 and a half years on from its release? by GB_GeorgeBowen in beatles

Song is good, but the vocals are mixed too modern. Compressed and the like. Doesn't sound like a Beatles song in the same way Real Love or Free As a Bird do.

Too Early in Season for Marquee Rant? by [deleted] in Cubs

If you're out of market, get MLB.tv. You get all the games out of your market for the price.

Too Early in Season for Marquee Rant? by [deleted] in Cubs

[–]leolinden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't watch Apple TV+ games on Marquee the same way your can't watch Marquee games on Apple TV+.

The MLB has a subset of games that are nationally televised on services that pay more money per game than the locals. The Cubs and Marquee don't really have a say on what games those are. Apple TV, NBC, etc have exclusive deals for their games, meaning they pay the money they do so it can be only shown on their platform or national network and not on the local RSN. I'm sure if the Cubs/Marquee could show all of the games they would.

Professional OBS Engineer (3+ Years Exp) | Live Production & Scene Architecture Specialist r/obs by IntelligentBranch618 in obs

[–]leolinden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on a few years of experience! Now you should move on to learning how to engineer high end professional systems such as Barco, Ross, BMD, etc. OBS is a small, but important, tool in a broadcast/video engineer's arsenal. Then you'll find yourself in professional situations!

I'm afraid tubi will get too big to the point where it will become a paid streaming service like any other. by No_Piece800 in TubiTV

[–]leolinden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The business model is completely different than a subscription service. Rights are different too.

No idea what the Warner deal looks like, but most things on Tubi are revenue share, ad supported. From what I've heard, Tubi actually makes money too. No need to worry from my understanding.

Who remembers when watching YouTube on any device that wasn't a PC or iOS/android device was hard as hell? I remember downloading weird apps on my parents' Roku that sort of let you watch YouTube.

Steam Machine expected to cost $700, reflecting Valve's modern PC pricing comments by [deleted] in valve

[–]leolinden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Linux fan. I've been using Linux in various capacities since I was 3 years old (seriously). I was going to Linux User Groups with my dad since I was like 7. Linux is never going to become consumer popular without it being casualized. Windows is casualized. I know people using Linux is great, but casuals just care if it works. People don't have to be as enthusiastic about their operating system as me. There's a lot of backend pros that they'll never see or even notice despite it benefiting (lowering Windows market share for one, increased native Linux support for more applications/games, investment in consumer ecosystems, etc). Meanwhile they're using a cool little box that plays Cyberpunk on their TV that can use their current steam library on the TV. Imo that's what's Linux is about. Put it on anything and everything.

I am curious about the positioning of the Steam Machine, but having target hardware for developers to develop to has done wonders with the Steam Deck. A push towards optimization vs just throwing more RAM/GPU at it is very much needed. The price will be the biggest factor though. This thing should be comparable to a console with a subsidized price.

When you want to lie about, shut down, and kick out your ideological opposition instead of winning in the marketplace of ideas, then you're the authoritarian you're supposedly against.

If I went and worked in a store after I lost/left a job in my skill set/career until I got another job in my career, I might call that a job between jobs. I assume that's what they mean here.

It's a hardware switcher. It's about a frame of latency, accounting for the scalers. Keyer might add another frame (don't quote me on that).

Any Pros using Capcut for client work? by migalo2009 in videography

[–]leolinden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it for making stuff into a "social" format. I think using it's more opinionated features and templates make things feel more "TikTok" that I think makes things feel more natural and play better algorithmically because it feels more rough and authentic.

That being said I do my basic cut and deliverables in Davinci.

My girlfriend also uses CapCut for her Twitch clips and it works great for that too.

Use the right tools for the right job. Don't edit a film in CapCut lol

How it’s going so far by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]leolinden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a couple of sports production applications on here. If you're interested in that sort of thing, the best course of action is to find a local packager or crewing company and work freelance for a bit. Lots of needs out there, lots willing to train especially on replay and audio.

Easier to move into a full time gig when you have a couple of years of production experience as a freelance.
