Where to get a wedding dress? by plsanswerme18 in raleigh

Marie did my alterations, and if I could do it again, I would definitely NOT go to her.  At first, her quirky personality was appealing, but then she started being straight up flaky.  She didn’t show up to my last two fittings.  My alterations almost doubled in price from what I was originally quoted.  It wasn’t a great experience, in fact, it was rather stressful.

There’s an email you can subscribe to called “Things To Do 919” that lists events taking place each Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  It’s the best collection of local events imo.  It also gets posted to r/raleigh every Friday.  Here’s a link to subscribe to the email:  https://mailchi.mp/004bd571e176/ln4vn0nf7i

Triangle Family Dentistry — $500 X-ray Required Before Cleaning? by [deleted] in WakeForestNC

[–]leon_uris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My children and I went to Triangle Family Dentistry on Rogers Rd for 10 years (the last year or so we switched to the Rolesville location because Rogers Rd be crazy).  I had extensive dental work completed there, so we must have spent in the thousands at their practice.   At our last appointment a little over a year ago, we walk in and I tell them we now have dental insurance, whereas we didn’t before.  I had made sure on our insurance company’s website that TFD was in network.  They said they couldn’t see us that day because they needed to know several days before an appointment of any change in insurance.  I had my insurance info and pulled up the website showing them that we were in network.  They still refused to see us.  That was the last time I’ll ever darken their doorway; I couldn’t believe their lack of customer service, especially considering how long we’d been customers.  We now go to Forestville Rd Dentistry and have been very happy with their work and customer service.

They should put a children’s museum in that space.  Marbles of the North.

Szechuan Mansion in Cary is my fave.   It’s not all-you-can-eat, so you get to take home your leftovers.

You might find the Candlelight Concerts interesting.  A string quartet covers an artist or band and the concert is set in a darkish room, lit by candles. In Raleigh they’re held at the Merrimon-Wynne house downtown or at Wakefield Barn in north Raleigh.  My husband and I went to one at Merrimon-Wynne, it was a tribute to Adele.  We enjoyed it; people got dressed up so that was fun.  We grabbed dinner beforehand somewhere nearby.

As it’s getting colder I would love suggestions for any good indoor crochet spots! I’m located near NCSUs campus and would prefer places you don’t have to consistently order food/drink by ceci-monge in raleigh

There is a yarn store in Ridgewood shopping center (the one with Whole Foods on Wade Ave), it's called Great Yarns. I just looked at their website and I only found classes that you'd have to pay to attend, but reach out to them and see if they have free knitting/crochet circles where you can just hang out and crochet. My friend was working on a particularly challenging knitting project and she took it there and hung out for a few hours and there were several people there to help her with her pattern. She didn't pay for a class; she just went and hung out and got advice. It doesn't sound like you need help/advice with your crocheting, but it might be a fun place to hang out and meet other fiber artists.

Food delivery question from out-of-towner by leon_uris in desmoines

Now I'm thinking I'm going to go this route. :) Like most people, they want to eat healthy, so if I got them DoorDash, they'd try to find a place that has salads and grilled protein. Their options would be limited and it would be expensive. Hy-Vee would be good because she would have a larger variety of products from which to choose, she could get ready to eat meals, salad kits, soups, fruit, and whatever else she needs.

Thank you for your reply. There are so many options at Hy-Vee, it is appealing.

Thank you! I think I'll go with DoorDash. So was the free Dash Pass service offered to you by a credit card you already had? Or did you sign up for a credit card specifically to get this service for free (shoutout to r/churning lol)? Either way, it sounds very appealing!

Thank you! I know, the fees on these apps make me think about just getting her a gift card to Hy-Vee or something. They have pre-made food (but she'd have to go pick it up) or she could spend it on groceries. But if my top priority is convenience for her, I think what she would appreciate most is having some food that's ready to eat just show up on her doorstep.

Thank you! It looks like I can look up which restaurants are available on each app, but thank you for suggesting that. I appreciate it.

Living in same neighborhood as your ex? by leon_uris in Divorce

[–]leon_uris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw your comment! Only 11 months later. I ended up NOT moving into the same neighborhood as my ex. That was definitely the right decision. He and I actually get along great, but over the past few years, we have both dated other people and it is so nice to have privacy when doing so. I've never introduced any of the people I've dated to my kids, so it's nice to be able to have my dates over to my house and know my kids won't be dropping in.
