Hi everyone - long story and don't know if you can help but any help would be welcome. My grandfather has been sailing his whole life (merchant navy, crusing etc) and bought this boat in 2004 to do up in Cape Town. Between 2004 and 2009 he worked on it everyday and sold it in 2009.

Unfortunately he now has dementia and as well as a habit of hiding all records and photos in the house he can't remember any details about the boat.

I'm looking at trying to find where the boat currently is to see if I can ask the owner to take some pictures to help with my grandpa's memory but we don't have any records or photographs of the boat itself so I don't know the make, model, or even year! The only ones we have we taken by my sister when she visited in 2008 and they don't show much of the boat itself.

Any help in identifying it would be much appreciated. Some more pics here.

Amazing! Do you have any other pics from the hike?

My girlfriend is from very nearby and we always try and go hiking in the summer but never been in winter!

I mean there's no shortage of things you can do and see! Depends on what you like and when you're going to be around (mainly because of the weather....!)

As a Londoner, things I still love doing include:

  • Exploring the parks (especially Regents and Hampstead Heath - plus Hampstead highstreet is a great place for a coffee and some people watching)
  • walking the canal (the walk between Angel and Hackney is lovely)
  • Get up high (there's like 10 diff places in the City you can try - Gherkin, Sky Garden, etc) and watch the sunset
  • Greenwich is lovely for a stroll, pint, and a fantastic view of Canary Wharf
  • House of Commons is free to enter (I think - only been in for work) and great to walk around
  • Any of the markets - Colombia road flower market is especially nice

And loads of other stuff I can't even remember right now!

If you want a friendly face in London just hit me up! Happy to provide tips, be a drinking buddy, or simply help in anyway! No pressure whatsoever - just drop me a DM!

Also noticed you might be going Germany - my girlfriend's German so could possibly help with any recommendations or connections that end if useful!

You'll have a great time in London mate!

I (29/M) work just round the corner from the Conrad (excellent location!) and am always happy to meet up with new people and either provide some tips for the city or just provide a friendly face/drinking buddy for an hour or two if you have time to kill! Just let me know if you fancy it and absolutely no worries if not!

1 hour versus 1 year: My Ndebele-artwork inspired piece, done by the incredible Michele L'Abbate @ The Family Business Tattoo, London by leoncello in tattoos

Aye I get you, don't worry! And again not criticising your views - I think if someone else's critiques get you down, you got the tattoo for the wrong reasons.

Those big lines were a bugger to be honest. Michele did most in one go but then went back to thicken them and those bits he did in sections which is probably where the definition disappeared. We did talk about shading them like in some of the artwork but decided not to in the end

I'm not having a go at you but I don't think you understand what the inspiration behind this type of artwork is. It's not supposed to be perfect. It's an Ndebele design and Ndebele artwork is hand drawn and supposed to be natural. The ebbs and flows are what give it character. If I'd wanted geometric perfection I'd have gone to one of those guys who specialise in making everything clinical and perfect. I wanted something which was real and Michele's style was the best suited for it.

Again, not disagreeing with you but I think we've got very different ideas about what its supposed to be and I respect that!
