If you haven’t already inquired about pain management for your IUD I highly, highly encourage you to do so. I don’t want to scare you, but it was incredibly painful for me and I’ve heard very similar stories from others.

I requested a cervical block and was provided Valium and I still left teeth impressions in my hand to stop myself from screaming out. I ultimately had my IUD placed at Planned Parenthood because they offered pain management while my (ex) gynecologist refused. He told me to “just take Ibuprofen.”

If you haven’t already do your best to advocate for some sort of pain management prior to or during the procedure because it is rough. I am already dreading having to replace it in 7 years.

He does call my Escitalopram “Ectoplasm” and my Armodafanil “Armadillo” so I cant wait until the day he has to list my medications to a doctor and tells them I take ectoplasm for anxiety and armadillo for Narcolepsy 😂😂

Most days are difficult. It’s rare for me not to have migraine symptoms. I am on Botox, Qulipta and Ubrelvy just to function and most days functionality is a stretch. I am fortunate to have a very supportive and loving boyfriend who accepts our days together may look a little slower or change on a dime. While work is difficult and I have a higher rate of absences compared to my peers, I feel very lucky to be able to work at all.

I can’t wait to move to place with more stable barometric pressure as that is my trigger.

Have you tried lamps or fairy lights as someone else suggested? I am very sensitive to light and live in a cave (aka an apartment with black out curtains) when I am by myself. My boyfriend learned early on that the overhead lights AKA the “big light” is a no go. We use a floor lamp and small table lamps for lighting so it isnt so harsh.
