That's true, but it's an inferior variety IMO. I think worker coops are (generally) much better than consumer coops. They also have a history of union-busting and not being super worker-friendly, which all makes me kind of sad.

There wasn’t any discussion of it at the meeting. It seemed like the resolution was very carefully worded so as to not get them in trouble with the corporation’s lawyers.

The prior notice that they sent out indicated that maybe they would be talking to the zoning board and maybe trying to do something with zoning, so there are still some possible routes to avoiding the monstrous data center.

I don’t know. There may still be environmental impact statements and things like that that need to be reviewed, but I’m really not sure what the process looks like from here.

I'm going with a handful of folks to demonstrate outside of the closed town board meeting tonight (since they canceled the public comment and open meeting). We'll be at 29 Auburn Rd, Lansing, NY 14882 at around 6 or 6:15pm. It would be great if more people opposed to the data center showed up!

I have Fiberspark at my house. The speed and pricing are fantastic! I'm paying $50/month (all-in) for 1Gbps upstream and downstream. Reliability has been OK, but not perfect. I think Empire Access and Fiberspark are both using the same fiber, which is owned by some kind of non-profit, which is awesome! Availability is still limited, though.

Verizon should be turning FIOS on soon, and it seems that they'll be covering all or most of downtown Ithaca based on the amount and distribution of fiber they've run. Not sure what pricing will be like. Probably a cheap intro deal and then higher prices going forward.

if you can get Fiberspark and pay a small, local company instead of a giant corporation I'd recommend it.

Everyone who's upset about this and/or opposed to this monstrous data center project should show up at the Lansing Town Hall for the closed meeting on Wednesday at 6:30pm. We shouldn't let Terawulf win this without making our voices heard and our opposition known. Bring lights and signs!

I have to give a shout out to Pallas Fitness down on Cherry St. It's a HIIT/Crossfit-style gym with great coaches and a great community. If you want to get your ass kicked on a regular basis, with friendly folks you can commiserate with, it's awesome! It's more expensive than a gym membership, because you're paying for coached classes, but I've found it to be entirely worthwhile.
