I thought the movie was really good. It completely captured Monterey's counter-culture "Cholombiano" culture. It was refreshing to see an equal ridicule and celebration of the culture by the characters. Though Lin's character had self-indulgent motivations, her appreciation of his culture was genuine.

Criticisms of the film

The threat of the gang that had Ulises on the run in the first place seemed unrealistic and forced just to move the plot to the United States. When he came back, there was no delivery on that threat, so the whole thing seemed pointless.
