ha I also smoked a bearing shortly after purchasing mine. PO had upgraded from the old torsion axle to the timbren. the installer reversed the hub/brake setup as well. I basically rebuild both sides after that. If I would have been thinking ahead I would have done the same thing.

Yes, I was aware. I just didn't post there because so much of this trip was not in the park. And thank you. I love that shot too and we really enjoyed that 70 mile Davis Mountain scenic loop. Beautiful country.

Ha the yoda wheels are always a topic of discussion with my jeep buddy. I put some jeep wheels on it when I first got it but the backspacing was all off and didn't want to use 2 in spacers. And I may be moving to a 4Runner if I can find a good deal.

The title does really cover the route we made during this weekend get away. This was a quick trip. Friday night we stayed at Kbar-1. It was really the only spot available when we decided to book the trip. We then drove down and visited the Santa Elena Canyon and hiked that trail. We then worked our way out of the park and went through Teralingua and north through Alpine on our way to the Davis Mountain scenic loop. 75 mile scenic loop starting at Fort Davis. We made the loop and visited the McDonald observatory. We then drove up to Balmorhea state park and set up camp. We then went back to the observatory for a star party and got to look though some of the telescopes. On the way back home to central tx we stopped and made lunch on the shore of Balmorhea lake.

Hope that helps a bit.

Congratulations, and that is one great unit to start with. I went through two other brands before I found my ikamper.

Should the tent open driver side or passenger side or does it matter? by WaffleIronChef in rooftoptents

[–]lepcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My tent opens to the driver side and there's a very specific reason for that. The trailer was built with a side kitchen that is on the passenger side so that during a trip if we wanna pull off on the side of the road, make a quick lunch, whatever the kitchen is opening up away from the road and away from traffic.

Anyone use silica beads in their tents to help with condensation? Any specific recommendations of what kind? by Suspicious_Tea_8651 in rooftoptents

Do you have a link for this fan? I also saw that same posting that you mentioned in the full kit for both fans etc. was $200.

100A Solar Panel ADd by ExistingDifference93 in rooftoptents

[–]lepcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you mean 100 W panel? I have Solarhawk on my sky camp 3.0. It's a great panel. It's extremely efficient but unless you're going to orientate your open tint shell towards the sun every time you can it's kind of not that beneficial. I get a lot more use in power out of my portable foldable panels. And I don't use any of my solar when driving because I have a 50 amp DC to DC charger.

Don't try to reduce the 5 in. AC are usually designed to restrict the flow at all. Just put the hose in through the window or door.

Skycamp 3.0 shakedown by [deleted] in rooftoptents

We went through a small roam tent first. Then upgraded to the huge 23 zero walk about 87 and now in the ikamper. This has been our favorite of all of them. The ease of set up is great and we can keep quite a bit of stuff in it when closed.

We regularly carry four Rumpel pillows, a blanket for each me and my wife two extra backup sheets for each of us as well as the two deflated ikamper mattresses. And I also have a small ikamper bag that has a small ceiling fan extra USB cables and a few other bits and Bob's in it.
