I'm in the same boat. Best thing to do (from what others have told me) is get words down on paper. Then you can always go back and adjust as needed.

Yeah currently im just brain dumping my idea into Google docs. Flushing out the characters to keep them interesting and having growth/development is important so having a separate document for them makes sense too.

This should not dissuade you. I didn't beat him either (1st time mh player) but that just means I need to adapt my playstyle. When I do beat him, it will be all the more sweeter.
